For ES3, I've been collecting 3%+ dividends every year for 10+years and my average buying price is under $3 so I'm also sitting on capital gain. As the bulk of my ES3 is in CPF, I'm totally happy to have outperformed the 2.5% CPF interest every year for 10+years :s13:

Bought in a lump sum or via RSP and when? If a while ago, I get it. But anyone buying it these days based on what?!

I'm glad that you're enjoying the 'dividend payouts'. But where is the 'growth'?!

Hindsight is good .
These people should be billionaires by now .
A few k in some US stocks recently make them feel smarter.
You all should have gone big Singapore properties years ago too.

I have STI ETF, IWDA and EIMI. First is akin to salary that pays me dividends while the latter two are my pot of gold when I retire in 10 to 15 years time.

Don't assume people here buy only STI ETF and even if they do, so what? Perhaps they have 5m in STI ETF and is happy to collect 200k every year without having to worry too much the swings.

Yup, some bloggers use the football analogy, they have strikers, midfielders, full backs, because you need to score goals (win money), and prevent goals (protect wealth).

You know a bubble is forming when investors think they cannot lose, whole team only strikers. But football is not a game where the first goal scored wins. Its the score after the full 90 minutes :s13:

I buy sti etf as a way to DCA into local banks since local banks stocks so expensive on their own.

Why do people keep recommending buying G3B? The returns are shockingly pathetic. Annualized returns:

-7.249% 1 YR
-2.778% 3 YR
6.222% 5 YR
2.128% 10 YR

The maximum, annualized returns of 6.2% in a FIVE-year period? <barf>

pap is the best gov in the world. sg economy will prop as long as they are in power
