STI better not DCA. Buy lump sum during crisis like Covid @ $2.50 when everyone sells. Vested as long as below $3 as my TP.
DCA good for US ETF. My opinion. Dyodd.

May I know if ur dca is done manually? How would u set the buy price if u dca on a fixed date? I have a problem putting a buy price... Say, if put lower, how many % lower so that it can get thru. Sometimes i rather have those blind dca system to buy the usa etf for me... But scb seems dun have this feature.

DCA-ing monthly for the past six years. it is paper loss for me unfortunately. those who started 4-5 years ago were buying at around $3.2-3.4.

however, dividend yield is around 3-4%.
If u started young and holding for the long term, let the capital costs pay back itself by the dividends distribution.

Say 4% annual dividends, your capital costs will be covered in 25 years. Any amount u make by divesting your holdings is pure profit

That's assuming you stop DCA'ing right (other than purely reinvesting your dividends)? Any new capital you inject, you'll need to wait for another 20 years to cover its own sum.

For low cost high dividend counters, any recommendations? Singtel quite low now and good to buy. Banks are abit high. Not sure if should buy REITs

In my view, State Street seems to be doing a worst job compared to Nikko AM.
https://www.dividends.sg/view/G3B
https://www.dividends.sg/view/ES3

From July 2020 to Jan 2021, G3B distributed 0.1213. ES3 distributed 0.099 from Aug 2020 to Feb 2021. Difference of 0.0223.

ES3's AUM increased in 2020 but dividends distributed declined...

I was only being simplistic in my calculations but yes.

if u look it in another way, the 'free' shares u bought early earlier on can offset the costs of the later shares purchased

after you bought before 8th 5pm, then you entitled to div.

The next day the share price may drop.
If drop more than 4cents, plus commission ,sell will lose money :D. But is up to you. Usually will hold on to it

Thanks for the explanation bro. It helps a newbie like me trying to get in and hold for long term.

May I ask in the past history when the drop in share price comes after div payout, is it more likely to erode away the div in the following few days? If so, bringing this likely pattern into this particular case since I'm planning to hold long term, might as well don't get in on the 8th but when the drop happens? Or is it more or less the same? Thanks again!

He bought very high years ago . Lol
Many here bought much lower .

What price an individual buys at doesn't affect the evaluation of the index against other indexes. If not, almost anything you buy in mar 2020 is a good pick?

I had said about my ES3 lowest was $2.32 bought in March 25 2020

It doesn't matter whether bought high or bought low. Cause you are depending on timing and luck. For info, my average cost is 2.91 for the positions i bought 5 years ago. And today after 5 years, the ETF is 2.97. a 6 cent increase over a period of 5 years. This is a joke.

The point i was making is for someone DCA-ing into this, you can easily get much better returns from a world index or US index.

Agree with u. There's literally not much growth with a dividend yield around 3.5%. ES3 is my biggest holding and I plan reduce my holding on this into something else.
