while I have repeatedly said that one should buy STI ETF whenever its under $3, I don't think STI ETF has that much further upwards to go. Maybe recovery to pre-covid levels is a reasonable target for this year.

At least, thats my hope:
2020 minimise damage so that its easier to recover
2021 recovery to pre-covid levels
2022 growth!

Just need to monitor the nominal interest rate to decide when to sell.

I hold ES3 from 2008 till 2017 the last cycle.

hello? u ok anot 1st? Compare simi? Historical performance doesn't means anything. The important thing is to make money.

U have crystal ball? Dont see history u predict future ah? It's not 1-2 year history, but decade long performance leh.

Want earn money can buy bonds, past few years ssb also good. Why need to expose yourself to more risk with equities?

I thought es3 used to be higher than g3b. Now it's the other way. Any idea why?

You're no better? All you want to do is to put down others who disagree. Want to argue also no basis, where did the "chase hot US stocks" come from? Your arse ah?

Doesnt matter to me what u do with your money either. You earn whatever amount of money u happy.

As others have said, want to buy sti should have done at mar 20 lows, at current price if anyone is still feeling bullish on it, take the profit while you can. Just dont come back years later regretting. Even if not looking at past performance, study the current constituents of the index and make your own opinion of the companies' future potential.

Either way, good to see that the index is well defended by staunch hooligans.

SSB max 200k pax only btw....

Understand you may be very loaded, but one instrument 200k limit not enough? That's just one bond only too.

Anyway not advocating bonds, was just responding to the comment "important thing is to make money" in relation to STI.

I follow your postings with great interest.
Do you intend to sell STI ETF ? Or accumulating only ?

i agree. don't think we can expect much growth in STI this year, most likely just recovery close to pre-covid levels if we are lucky ~3,350-3400.

that said, STI still has it's appeal to some investors, given the steady dividend yields of around 3.8-4%.

personally, i will still continue to DCA STI but I will reduce the amount, and channel the additional funds to buy a few more shares of VWRA per month.
