Yes investing in STI ETF is for the long haul. Again, for myself, to eliminate the effect of timing, I choose to do it on a monthly basis with POEMS. I had been investing in STI ETF for more than 10 years and have divested twice when the prices went low and brought my costs down and when it rises again, I sold off. But this takes time so for those who are in for quick gains, maybe it is not for you. It might happen, but the chance is that STI ETF for most of time, is going to be a slow rising stock....over time. The dividends are average with 3-4% or more depending on your costs. I have no expert opinion but my feeling is that STI will go back to normal levels again, it might a year or two, or even longer, but it will, so to me, accumulating this stock now at this low cost monthly is good for me. But again, understand why you are investing in each counter before triggering.
