Congrats on your 1st step.
Buying by suggestion is a common mistake, even for veterans. How do u determine the desired level of the counters u have mentioned?
Keep a record of your investment portfolio and assess it periodically. Good luck!
(not vested)
thanks! If i buy in 2.5, they stop to 2.2 and 2.1, do i buy in to average it out?
Currently using SCB to purchase
It depends on whether you got the capital to do so and whether you got the holding power?
What happens if it keeps dropping? Do you have more capital to average down?
ok.. actually i am prepared to throw the $5k. If really lost all also nvm just a lesson to learn. I have a budget of $10k to play for a start.
Wanted just a passive investment so went to read alot and all recommend STI ETF for a sart to learn and see the tracking of the 30 firm.
So my risk is 100% to lost that $5k which is that 2k shares.
As for average down have that $5k to average out only.

Your 5k won't go to zero
Now the local banks are giving shares or cash as dividend payment. How will our es3 receive this? In shares or cash?
As explained 0 or close to zero means all the 30 companies in the etf will be almost bankrupt. U know what kind of chaos that is?erm ok i mean if it close down or bankrupt become 0 liao
I know singapore market there's no growth and better to diversify. But having ETF as a start and now slowly emerge to individual stocks.
But i see all like dropping. US drop, SGX also drop. US UP, SGX still drop.. so this logic like hard to understand
If your 5k go to zero hor, means all our 3 banks will be bankrupt. And other 27 major companies in Singapore will be bankrupt too.
If you have another 5k in one of the 3 banks, you wouldn’t even have it anymore.
So you will end up with nothing.

never say never
but each time if a company going bankrupt they will just swap the index.
i don't know how it will become 0 though.![]()

This etf is not punter counter, won't lose your 5k.
It's follow our country economy progress.
It's better than any banks interest.
In short, this is a long term stable investment.

If really $2.20, u can buy more to average down. Once again, u should apply or devise some evaluation methods rather than plucking random prices. NAV is impt for index etf though ignored by most investors.

Singapore sinking.....actually, put it aside, what will actually caused all 30 to bankrupt? World War? or dooms day..
