after reading all that about SSD prices coming down... it piqued my interests to get one for my 5-yr old Core2 desktop (which can only support SATA 3Gb/s at best i think).... to get blazing speeds for my ubuntu...

however ideally i'd want to buy one if prices are lower than SGD200.... and stumbled upon this USD$99.99 SanDisk 120GB SSD at newegg:

Newegg.com - SanDisk Ultra SDSSDH-120G-G25 2.5" 120GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

which is older model of SanDisk SSD (SATA II only)... not a problem for me since my desktop is old... so i was tempted to buy until i read quite a number of negative reviews on amazon about the drive dying out very fast....

anyone got experience with SanDisk SSDs...? :s11:

It's ok to get a SATA3 SSD. Get a M4 instead. Even my M4 is faster than my Sandisk Extreme SSD.

but even when ur mobo is WOLS and don't support SATA3... will it make that much difference in speed...? i'm more worried about reliability though when i see the reviews on amazon... all the "dead in XX months".... :o

yeah i had pondered for a while to buy when the 256GB was USD199.... but since i missed it... as well as the 128GB version when it was cheaper... i guess i'll just wait and see... i'm no hurry to buy SSD anyway.... :o
