dun trust me. google it.

i have read many posts suggesting that desktop usage is typically a mixture between the tests performed by benchmarks, and that sound pretty logical.

So that means you could see performance increase in some activites by using NCQ even though the benchmarks exaggerate it.

i was just wondering what sort of activities are most likely to see some benefit

actually how do you know that AHCI has little performance in real life for SSDs?
just curious to know where you got this from.

perhaps you can elaborate what sort of application will benefit from NCQ

I have tried both Native IDE and AHCI, in one sense it is correct to say that the difference is not that big, on the other hand, the option to use AHCI is 'free' and doesn't cost money. If you can save 2 seconds of bootup/loading time using AHCI, why not?

Anyway, one can easily test the difference between AHCI and Native IDE, just change the settings and use Bootracer + PC Mark vantage to benchmark.

I recently upgraded to Sandy bridge so finally I am on Intel ICH controller.
It is way way way way way way way way way x 100 better than AMD's controller.
I am on 2x Vertex 2 60GB Raid 0, 128kb stripe
So here's my benchmark and boot time

I'm not getting a good enough score for the benchmark, especially for the writes? but this is just it without any tinkering, just install windows, drivers, antivirus and that's it.

This post was just FYI, to get people interested in perhaps buying old generation Vertex 2 and then RAIDing it to get current generation performance, especially if you are running an older INTEL motherboard without 6Gbps SATA, remember INTEL only. If you are running AMD just forget it la, time to upgrade to Sandy bridge then RAID.

nice. is it mainly because of the intel controller?

Trim in raid issit for intel SSD only for for Crucial OCZ Gskill too?
OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD uses 4 sata slots (sata 2 or 3)?
If its internally raid 0 something like gtx590 and HD6990, is it TRIM compatible since its internally raid 0?
can use 2 RevoDrive in raid 0 again? (something like quadfire.)

2x 120gb vertex 3 max iops raid 0 VS 240gb revodrive x2 which one faster?

Lastly, anyone tried all these? doesnt it help? http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-2/
