How about considering ADATA S510 120GB SSD NOTEBOOK PACK w/USB3.0 Enclosure @ SRP$265?

It comes with free Data Migration Utility for you to clone your image from your notebook to SSD , then after you can put your hdd into the USB3.0 enclosure & use it as an external hdd.
Is this a non-sandforce drive?

I suggest u move your cache (such as ie9) to the HDD. Try to minimise write on your SSD.

which means for ssd you cannot write too many times on it? so if i everyday i transfer a lot of images to my ssd to use photoshop to edit then it will wear out the ssd faster?

Hi, my OCZ SSD is now extremely slow and I have encountered blue screen of death a few times during boot up. Bought the drive over a year ago. Anyone can advise where to bring for checking? I believe SSD warranty is at least 2 years? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance.

does this look like SATA II speeds to you guys? the SSD in question is a MemoRight FTM Plus SATA III 240GB running Windows 7 Pro x64 on AHCI mode. Cable is the default SATA cables that came with my Z68XP-UD3 which can support 6Gbps according to the silkscreen printing on the cable itself.. cable is plugged in to Intel SATA III port on the mobo.

it seems like the culprit may be the cable itself.. anyone tried the stock cables from Gigabyte? :s11:

OCZ 160gb 2.5" SSD SataII Vertex 2 Sandforce. Bought from Fuwell on 9-Jan-2011.
Less than 1 year old. :(

Do you recall what error message appeared in the BSOD screen? This is important so you can better trace where the fault is. BSOD errors can be cause by different hardware like RAM for example.

You might also want to consider doing a fresh install of your OS. Win 7 is highly recommended. Slowing down shouldn't happen drastically if your OS is Win 7 which has TRIM support for SSDs.

If all else fails feel free to bring it to our service centre along with your receipt. Kindly note our service centre is closed this Sat 31st Dec 2011.

Hi,
can't remember the BSOD error msg.
Reformatted everything and did a fresh install of Win 7 (was already on Win 7). Now the system appears better but boot up is still slow and takes over a min.
Windows Experience Index showed Primary HDD at 7.1 though.

Even for smaller nand also can write 3000times...you buy a 64gb for photoshop, one day write 1 cycle also can use 8 years...that is assuming you take up to 50gb of photo a day, which I think seldom happens even for shooting burst on raw at olympic...

TBH, if you are shooting 50gb of photos daily, you should either:

1. Rethink your workflow/shooting pattern
2. You must be really really pro liao, should have budget to hire many assistants and buy many many ssd put as raid

Actually the CF card that we use also got write/erase cycle limit one...

Is it pointless for home users to buy high end SSD?

I wondering if it is pointless for home users to buy high end SSD?

Of cuz , the same question apply to ppl who buy the latest and greatest CPU and GPU, but lets keep it to SSD for this thread.

Is there visible difference in performance for high end SSD for corsair GT , max IOPS SSD for home users compare to first gen SSD?

I read an article saying get a cheap SSD will do, its the seek times that give fast boot up and general better responsiveness in opening applications and loading applications.

The only thing must to look out is reliability, be it SSD or HDD.
