Hi guys. Been using HDD all my life. nv tried SSD b4 since HDD is serving me very well already and have no problems with it.

But people have been raving about how u try SSD u wont wan to go back..

Im using GIGABYTE ga-h55-s2h MOBO with SATA 2 3gb/s

What would be a good recommendation? The reviews i've seen like samsung evo 840 very very fast.. is that an overkill for an old mobo like this?

Only when you copy large file into the ssd or out of the ssd than you can see the differences,under normal usage you will not feel much differences.

anyone knows where to download the firmware for adata sx900? the ones uploaded for sx900 dont seems to be for sx900..

any bros experiencing high write amplification on their Intel 530 240GB SSD?

My Total NAND Writes is way higher than my host writes as shown in SMART

Guys..can i check only intel offered international warrenty? Crucial n samsung will be without warrenty if i ordered from amazon?

Intending to upgrade my MacBook Pro's SSD as it's running out of space. Is the Samsung EVO 480 500GB a significant improvement over my current Crucial m4 256GB? Would it make a good upgrade?

On paper, Yes. However, in real life tasks, you can't notice the difference. I would suggest to just go for the cheapest 500gb ssd you can find and call it a day.

m4 is older specs, I would suggest u when to samsung 840 Pro, that is really smooth like silk.

Start & shup down still fast like simple way.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.

However my main concern is when I work with video editing on iMovie and FCP X, the project often takes up to a minute to fully load and let me do a live preview of segments. And performance is usually choppy for the first 5-10 mins of loading the project. Is this due to weak SSD performance, weak processor performance, or likely a software issue?

What are the specs of your macbook pro? could be processor slow.

I think it's an i5 dual core at 2.3GHz. It's the MBP13 early 2011 base model with 4GB ram. I don't think ram is the issue as there were no swaps occurring and according to Mavericks, the memory pressure is fine. Not sure if the processor could influence the slowness in loading.
