My insomnia is self induced. I worry I won’t have enough sleep and because I’m worried and tense, I indeed don’t fall asleep. I really on chamomile and Xanax to calm my mind. Melatonin doesn’t work for me.

am suffering from insomnia/bad sleep for a couple of years now too.. will go to bed around 11plus at night - if i'm lucky I'll fall asleep after a while on the bed (and sometimes wake up suddenly to go toilet or just before my alarm rings), if not sometimes toss and turn around but jiu shi can't fall asleep kind, and the worse is almost the whole night will not be able to fall asleep till like 3/4am. and i've to wake up at 7plus for work.

seen a doctor at a certain govt hospital cos I got referred from a GP near my home, but obviously, sleep disorders aren't very easy to diagnose and he simply asked very superficial questions and whether I was suicidal or not. He prescribed me with atarax 25mg. It used to be effective for me for awhile, but think my body got used to it, and for a moment of time, I was taking 2 - 3 pills a night just so that I can fall asleep.

finally, I decided that enough was enough and I went to a specialist clinic at farrer park medical centre a month ago. this time round, she was more specialised and sort of managed to help me find out the root cause of my insomnia/sleeping disorder. she prescribed me with vitango to relax my body and mild sleeping pills. hopefully this works?

note: i've tried all sorts of methods already - warm baths before bed, no exercise 2 hours before bed time, drinking warm milk, listening to calm music, no electronic devices before bed/near the bed, dark room, on aircon.

just want to share my experience for the public and see if anyone else has the same problem as me too.

hi may i know which clinic you went to at farrer park hospital?

Jz curious how may ppl is/are suffer insomnia?

I'm age 53 jz started insomnia last week, every night can't fall asleep, my eye close and wait for the sun to raise.

I have seen Chinese medicine, family clinic and polyclinic, but they gave me pill to release my body stress but I don't think I have due to retired in couple year ago. They don't give sleeping pill now.

Polyclinic referrals me to SGH sleep doctor specialize but SGH rejected and refused to make appointment, said not necessary but referral me to Khoo Tech Huat Hospital to see psychologist in the next 7-10 days.

Problem is, I can't sleep every night, not even fall asleep 1-2 hrs, can I wait such a long time?

How to CURE???

Hav u exercises? Wad ur diet? Do u hav any depression last time?

I agree with the others that light exercise like running or brisk walk will make you tired and want to go to sleep faster.

Exhaust yourself. Steer away from radiation. Couple it with a little melatonin and you should be good to doze.

mind me asking, why you on stronger drug like diazepam?

atarax dont works for you?
i just google about diazepam, it seems to have more after effects and targeting anxiety too.

the reason that i asked, since atarax going discontinued, i may need to find an alternative in due future.
