Damn, they also sent me an email to thank me for participating in the interview. This wait is seriously kiling me although its only been a day. Did u apply to other schools as well? It also seems a little weird that we are the only full time applicants surfing the forum

I think this thread was titled wrongly. I've been searching to a similar thread that was posted for last yr 2017 but i couldn't until I typed in the google search differently!! Maybe if we followed the previous's year title format, it would draw more applicants in.

Changed my mind and applied for Social Work this yr and have been interviewed. No results yet. Feel free to ask me any questions if required.

Do you mind sharing your GPA? As far as I know, SUSS min GPA(2017) is 3.2 despite not stated on the website. But if you find last year's thread, many was told by lecturers at the open house that min GPA required is 3.2 (My friend also asked at open house and was told personally). Another friend of mine scored roughly 2.7 and was outright rejected without a chance to go for interview. Though i'd say people within this range will have a higher chance at PT.

1. Why you choose this course?
2. Why choose SUSS? (They will also ask if you have applied for other universities and what course you applied)
3. Tell me more about yourself
4. CCA contribution and takeaways (Depends)
5. Did you come for the open house? (Beware NP students lol.. they will ask why you never come despite the buildings being next door)
6. Do you know about SUSS teaching style?
7. Why should we choose you?

Wow, you all have been called up for interviews already! I thought of submitting my application after Open House. Did anyone apply for full-time degree in Social Work?

I applied for FT Social Work. My suggestion is to not hold your submission until after Open House. Many students are competing. If you apply after the open house where application volumes are high, chances are that you might get your interview late March to late Apr. When you apply, you will be given 1 or 2 dates of choice for interview (Which will usually be set a week or 2 apart from the day they email u). After you go for interview, waiting time for results will take up to 1 month +.

wah, they will indicate if the course is ft or pt on the degree?? doesn't seem fair if it's the same thing.

It is the same thing. What sets SUSS apart from other univ is that SUSS caters towards people who wanna advance their studies aft working for some time. Of course, studying part time comes with a requirement - 21 yrs above, at least 2 yrs of working experience. Part timers have a wide array of different ages (23-50) and catered to those who work during the day and study at night. FT are for youngsters looking for campus life. IMO it's fair because part timers have to work during the day to fund their studies at night. Not everyone have the luxury to afford FT education even with Govt Subsidies. Conversely, a FT student can convert into a PT student.

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer to my utmost capabilities.

Hi! I applied for FT Social Work at SUSS on 19/1.

Do you mind sharing what Social Work-related qns did they ask you? I'd expect qns such as, "Why do I want to become a Social Worker?" Would they ask me, "If you enjoy helping people, why not volunteer instead of pursuing Social Work?"

I graduated with a Diploma in Marketing from NYP in 2017 and have 2.5 months of experience working at a Nursing Home. I don't volunteer as I need to spend time with my Grandmother and I tutor 6 students on my off-days. Currently, I'm working at a CC where I've the opportunity to guide the illiterate, persons with disabilities and senior citizens in the usage of technological devices.

I'm worried as my internship pulled down my gpa by a lot although my grades are decent (according to my teachers).

Thank you for your help, really appreciate it! I'm happy to find someone who applied for Social Work too.

I hope you don't mind but what is your gpa? Otherwise, I think you stand a good chance since you have experience and you show that you are really interested in helping people since you have a lot of commitments that help people. I think relevant questions they might as you is why you choose to make a jump from marketing to sw. Best is to read up on social work - especially the sectors involved. They might ask you which sector you want to specialise in. Then they will give u a scenario pertaining to that sector. Example, mine was disability and they asked how I would handle a situation if a intellectually disabled girl tells you she wants to have sex with her bf that she's very in love with. I think i didn't fare very well and records are not impressive compared to yours. So I think you will stand a very high chance

KIV means put on reserve list.. then 1st round of people accept already then you get in. Not sure if its totally KIV or because they still interviewing people and too early to accept for now? But then again the slots only 40 last year, this yr shud have increase maybe 10-20 more slots.. Chances are very slim nonetheless.

You have a chance to get interviewed if your CCA records are at least there..I think anyone with GPA 3.5 will get accepted most likely in first round. Other than that, most will end up in KIV. However, you can try part time. If not go for private already. What about SIT? SIT accepts 3.0 and above.

Honestly, I'm not confident due to my low gpa. My work experience at a Nursing Home was 2.5 months only so it's not very long.

The question that they asked you is something that I wouldn't guess that they will ask omg.

My gpa before internship was 3.4x. Final gpa after internship was 3.08.

Ohno.. Why the big drop? I think since internship is only 1 particular sem.. they may consider your semester before internship. Although if you get accepted for the interview, be prepared to get asked what happen and what caused the big drop.
