The GPA grade profile that other universities have is only a generic guide that is meant to help applicants refer to the previous year's percentiles.

Since this is the first year for UniSim, of course it won't have any grade profile yet. And why would first batch suffer hard because of the GPA entry? The first batch will allow those of lower GPAs and it will generally rise up when the program becomes popular in future.

The only thing is that the first batch will be regarded as the "guinea pigs".

Correct, in fact i am impress with how the lecturers deliver their lecture which i can't find in Ntu and Nus. I know that because i drop out from these 2 university. I am going to their full time interview this saturday, transfer from pt to ft at unisim.

ya, is subsidised by ah gong. Bursary received is the same as what the big 3 students are giving too. Of course, it will take some times for it to be in the same tier as the big 3.

How is UniSIM's Bachelor of Accountancy programme different from what is offered by NUS, NTU and SMU?

Programmes in different universities differ with respect to their specific programme components and pedagogy, reflecting their distinctiveness. UniSIM’s distinctiveness is its focus on professional competency, self-directed learning and social consciousness; as well as its flexibility in facilitating full-time studies and full-time work. Other than this, the Accountancy programme in UniSIM is similar to those in NUS, NTU and SMU in that all four Accountancy degree programmes are accredited and recognised by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA), Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC).

Can I be a Chartered Accountant upon graduating with a UniSIM Bachelor of Accountancy degree?

Upon completing the requirements of UniSIM’s Accountancy programme, you will be awarded the Bachelor of Accountancy degree, which will qualify you for direct entry into the Professional Programme under the Singapore Qualification Programme (SQP) framework for Chartered Accountants. You need not undergo the Foundation Programme. You will, however, need to pass the Professional Programme, as well as fulfil a minimum of three (3) years of Practical Experience in an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), supervised by an approved mentor, to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. What is the duration of the full-time degree programmes?

Students are expected to take four (4) years to complete the programme; the maximum candidature is six (6) years. This includes a 24-week work attachment, an 80-hour service learning project and an overseas experience. Students who accelerate their studies by taking more courses may be able to complete their programme in 3.5 years.

Are there any other requirements for graduation other than coursework?

Aside from coursework, all students are required to successfully complete the following components: an Overseas Experience, a Service Learning Project, a Work Attachment and an e-Portfolio.

What is the Applied Project?

The Applied Project forms part of the technical competency and industry relevance training in the programme. You will be required to identify a work-related problem, formulate an applied project, execute the research plan and propose solutions to the problem. It will be supervised by a mentor in the company and a UniSIM faculty member. The project can also involve a service learning component or be completed overseas.

What is the Integrative Course?

The Integrative Course, which will be taken near the end of the programme, draws on earlier courses taken by fitting them into an integrated, larger picture. For accountancy students, 'Strategy' will be the integrative course. This course will require students to integrate their knowledge from different business functions to tackle strategic issues in organisations.

Is the work attachment compulsory? How long is it?

Yes, the work attachment is a compulsory graduation requirement. The minimum duration for the work attachment is 24 weeks. This structured work attachment with clearly defined learning outcomes for students will be co-developed and supervised by UniSIM and the work attachment organisation.

Is the service learning project compulsory? What is service learning?

Yes, the service learning project is a compulsory graduation requirement, and comprises a minimum of 80 hours of project work, aimed at inculcating a proactive and positive attitude towards civic causes. Service learning requires students to initiate or participate in projects for a cause or organisation with the aim of developing their skills in conceptualising, planning, managing and executing tasks critical for achieving project aims. It also enables students to hone critical soft skills in leadership, teamwork and communication through service. In addition, service learning fosters civic engagement and active citizenship. As the students become engaged in the lives of others, they could become potential advocates for social action, social justice and equity.

Is the overseas experience compulsory?

Yes, the overseas experience is compulsory. It may be in the form of an Overseas Study Mission or pursuing courses in an approved overseas university.

How will a work attachment be different from an internship?

UniSIM and employers will co-develop and closely supervise a structured, 24-week work attachment with clearly defined learning outcomes. Unlike a traditional internship, UniSIM's work attachment is longer, more substantial and structured, requiring students to undertake work assignments and job tasks like employees at their host organisations. This will allow students to gain real work experience that complements their classroom learning.

The Accountancy programme was designed after a series of consultations with various industry heads, accreditation bodies, and external faculty consultants. This 3-year direct honours programme will hone students’ critical and analytical skills in addition to the requisite knowledge needed for professional accounting career in commerce, industry, government or public practice. Graduates will be specialists with deep skill-sets ready for the accounting sector.

Curriculum
As accountants’ roles involve constant communication, the accountancy curriculum will enhance students’ soft skills through interactive activities such as oral and written presentations, as well as individual and team-based assignments which will be regular features in the programme.

The curriculum will include various modules such as change management, forensic accounting, internal auditing, regional tax planning, strategic accounting, etc.

Some of the highlights include the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP) which runs through peak auditing periods. Following the IWSP, students will undertake a business Capstone module and modules in their focused area of interests such as Audit or Tax. Students will also have Regional Exposure to Accounting Practice (REAP). Practice-oriented trainings will be provided by industry experts.

as the years goes by is impossible not to feel shitty about the programs in unisim especially when the ucores are totally not relevant to your field of studies and you end up wasting time and money to clear those ucore requirements.

some ucores that are probably helpful in real life are:
- managing your personal finance
- law and you (family law plus contract law)
- critical thinking
- essential academic writing

Well, thats the case when u do a local degree. Lots of irrelevant mod, having said that at least those module is useful, look at ntu and nus one even worst. I did bahasa indonesia in nus,i think there is even some star glazing **** there. All this is their so call comprehensive well rounded education. Lmao! But anyway u havea choice whn u apply at sim, dl degree ia straight fwd, u do just ur major and thats it. No rojak mod.
