Unissim interview

yep just had mine today. Think mine was the 2nd last batch to be interviewed. There will be the final upcoming one this friday.

Unissim interview

My first choice was marketing. But then i was told it has been filled up. So gotta decide to go on with my second choice-Finance or to next year's intake of marketing if i got accepted. Gotta get back to them.

i was browsing thru both unisim and sit accountancy progs on their website. these are some of my views - i was from one of the big 3s

sit is 3-year whereas unisim is 4-year. sit is slightly cheaper. it can mean entering the workforce 1 year earlier, 1 year of experience can be alot!

unisim is already accredited and has past experiences from its pt progs. believe sit will get accredited eventually, a totally new prog will have adjustments every now and then in its initial stage though.

unisim has secured work attachments partners with 15 audit firms, including the big 4s. this is a very good arrangement because you might just find yourself getting hired after that if you are good. sit has integrated wk study prog - which should be the same thing, no mention of firms yet (prob still in negotiation stage). the integrated wk study prog looks interesting and promising:

unisim seems to give a more wholesome experience with compulsory overseas experience, service learning proj, wk attachment and e-portfolio. sit seems more academic-focused or maybe progs still in pipeline.

i think the chance to interact with part time students, mostly working adults, a good idea. you get perspectives different from your main group of students and can learn a thing or two.

will sit has its own campus in the future? unisim has a full campus - full campus always hv its own advantages. academically wise, there is exchange within different faculties. the setting up of the third law school in unisim, if there is exchange, will also benefit related faculties.

just my own perspective.

Went in Feb, and got reject.

hmm, they portray themselves as looking for "student with a heart" like care for society and not just grades.

but at the end of the day, i still think they are looking for students with good GPA. after all they are the 6th local uni.

since you got the part time offer, then just take the part time offer besides is cheaper anyway.
i'm a firm believer that education costs shouldn't be expensive unless is those very specialized courses.

as for those on full time courses, bank loan or parent's money ?
regardless, they are still counted as personal liabilities on your own personal cash flow even if your parents loan you don't need to return but will still feel inclined to repay more back in terms of household allowances.

Parent's money, definitely. There are some parents that can afford and are willing to pay for their children's education.

Oh damn, all the marketing places have been filled up? Seriously??? Anyway I gave UNISIM a call recently, and I was told that we will all know the outcome of our UNISIM applications by the end of this month. Hopefully earlier lah, some people want to know early to disrupt from NS...

You're probably on the waiting list.

If there's still no news by the end of this month, you might have to look forward to after 2nd June. That's the deadline for the all the acceptance of offers in the local unis (including unisim)

I've chose SIT accountancy over unisim. but currently, Im still able to change my mind and pick unisim again inside the portal.

So im sure unisim will resend offers after 2nd June; which is also the appeal periods for some local unis.

My heart goes out to you. I shall bump up your story. The juniors should know before investing their time and money on education. Thank you baby. You are the best example.

I have a Rmit degree taken at sim and after many attempts to try to apply to government, I found out that many ministries don't recognized my cert. I have been applying to the public service, didn't get short listed by any ministries or stat board. I worked outside for a few months and tried applying again to public service. Still nothing.

My sister worked hard for the public service. More than 10 years, just got her degree from SA, and was told that they don't recognized her degree. She can't get her grade up.

Just a word of advice, if you wanna work for the public service, unless you're from the 3 local universities or better (Ivy league universities) don't bother trying.

I love my country and I want to serve my nation but is our government is an equal opportunity employer? I really don't know.

I think you should just go for it if you have the means of time and money to do so, unless you have better offers from perhaps nus, smu or ntu.

Accept the full time offer first. This is as they allow students to convert from full time mode to either flexible or part time mode. For students in part time mode at the beginning, I think it will be very hard to just convert to a full time mode (if they do it for one guy, then dozen of others will ask for exception too).

Once you start the full time course run, you can have a sense of whether you will be able to juggle the study and work load (I guess going for work is your motivation for part time course).

True that. If you're deciding either full-time or part-time, just accept the full-time first and see how it goes. At most you go for one semester and if you find that you prefer the part-time option, they allow you to change. If you accept the part-time, and suddenly decide you prefer the full-time, it will be much harder..

You should take it. There are so many people like me who would kill (not literally of course) to get that email. And if you don't like it, you could always drop out midway through and go for the part time course.

Any financial constraints you want to highlight?
Being a part time finance student, I'll seen same batch marketing students graduating faster than business and finance students.
Why? Cause most of their level 3 majors are end of course assignments.
With 170cu requirements for full time course, graduating within 4 years will be a challenge.

You could try seeing that I've made the switch from marketing to finance
