Being a part time finance student, I'll seen same batch marketing students graduating faster than business and finance students.
Why? Cause most of their level 3 majors are end of course assignments.
With 170cu requirements for full time course, graduating within 4 years will be a challenge.

Hi Angelixal, faithinfate, WadsUpDoc, Sangviro and simon_84,

Thanks for your replies. It made me think about what my choice would be.

I have applied to SMU and NTU apart from SIM, but so far, I do not have any replies from either of them. So I am assuming that I will not get any offers. (My GPA is 3.46)

The advice from you guys about taking up the full time offer first is quite valid. So I am thankful for this eye-opener.

I am actually hoping my parents will be willing to help with the schools fees but it will still be quite a burden for us, therefore I have been worrying about the money mostly. The PT course is cheaper but a comment on this thread several pages back stated that a full time job with part time work is extremely hard to handle and I think that I might not be able to cope (but hopefully I can pull through should it come to that…)

I am actually wondering if any of you know why the PT and FT program prices are so different?

And simon_84, why do you say that graduating in 4 years would be a challenge? I still have a hard time grasping the concepts of what "cu" is…

Hi Orange

The credit units (CU) needed for FT & PT graduation is different, hence the difference in prices. CUs are numerical values given for each subject (be it core or elective) and you have to meet the minimum before you can graduate.

I forfeited my unisim full time accountancy program. Good luck to those who are waiting or appealing into unisim!

No problem, but in my opinion, i`m sure you will know which one is best for you and your family, whether they can help you bear the financial burden just for 4 years. All I can say is in the end, don`t make any decisions you know you will regret and remember.

if you opt for the part time route, there is always the option of temp work, no stress, no kpi requirement and no ot.
your sch fees is dependent on the number of modules you take each 5cu module after deducting govt grant is about $530+, so naturally 170cu means pay more.

a conservative approach to the years you spend in unisim for 170cu, taking 170 divide by 20cu (might go up to 22.5cu including 2.5cu ucore) equals to 8.5 semesters so i would say will require FT students a minimum of 4.5 years to grad.
20cu is maximum allowed for each sem, not sure if they allow FT students to load an additional 2.5cu for ucore.
the course registration has been modified to allow students to load only up to 20cu max, any additional loading you may need to email your course head or student affairs.

not forgetting the current stunts they are doing to PT students, if the govt increase subsidy (currently 55%) again, the following sem they will increase the sch fees per module.
trend seems to indicate almost every sem will increase sch fees or other misc fees like add/drop fee and transfer of program fees.

lastly, unisim blackboard is well known to be not stable every single sem and alternates between browsers either IE, FF or chrome. (last sem FF was stable, this sem switch to chrome)
so there will be moments that you wish you had submitted your assignment at least 2 days before due date.

I need to clarify on the no. Of module to take per sem. FT programme requires you to take 6 to 7 mod per sem so you cant compare it to pt programme. For unisim, you can join join the pt class during the hoilday to speed up graduation. Which is the equivalent of the special sem in NUS and NTu. So you can defintely finish in less than 4 years. Also, bursary given can be more than 3k per yr. Eg cdc ccc bursary to help the needy.

Hi all

I would like to know how is it like in UNISIM? as I am considering whether to apply for it, I have a diploma in business management.

But now in a dilema whether to select unisim or SIMGE after I ORD in november.

Concerns such as whether unisim degree will be able to compete when I look for a job, whether It is as recognised etc are running through my mind. Would appreciate any advice!

7 modules mean higher risk involved if any paper got special stunt, be prepared to resit which is part and parcel of unisim lifestyle.
i believe that PT and FT holidays are around the same period and no one is so "siao on" to stay in sch for more than 8 hours a day.
