Anyone swimming regularly at public pools, how's the crowd when all the slots are booked?

will be difficult to swim continuous laps when it's crowded but depends on timing. 6.30am and 7.45am slots are open to all now. i tried 7.45am yesterday and lanes were filled with elderly swimmers. the late morning slots will be better since the swimmers are mostly younger. haven't tried visiting in the evening yet.

I see, thank you. Over here for Woodlands, the evening slots always left less than 5 slots, seems like will be very crowded. Will try morning slots but need to either wake up early or may disrupt work, need more planning.

they sent out an email last friday about the new booking rules that started on 10 Nov.

7:45am at jurong east got way too many senior citizens. but then even the later slots i meet slower swimmers who block the centre of the lane.

Is it very rushed with these 50 min slots? What time can we start entering and what time would they start chasing people out?

they let people in very close to the starting time so that there is enough time for those from the previous timeslot to finish washing up and leave. at the 45 min mark they will broadcast an announcement to inform users that there are 5 mins left and the lifeguards will ensure that pool is vacated at the 50th min.

This sounds quite coordinated

Does anyone know whether there are any swimathons or masters swimming competition this year? Feel like participating in some swimming competition to test my fitness. I know there is one sspa test conducted by spore swimming association but that is for kids

forget about these 50m /100m personal best nonsense...

be able to swim 500m without rest for any stroke. that is the way to exercise...

if you cant do front crawl.. go and learn, instead of trying to learn from youtube... some may get it...many wont. as you can see yourself. you can go and flim yourself if you have a 'private' pool that will help you.

i would buy a proper kick board and do leg kicking up and down the pool. breast stroke kick is also okay. do 200m to 400m. rest if you need to.

please don't do flip turn in the public swimming pool. its a freaking nuisance . the same also for butterfly stroke , even if you can do it properly... you are just a bloody nuisance.

bring water after your swim... you sweat more than you think while swimming... ever got the feeling of being very hungry after swim? drink some water.. you wont be anymore.

please have a proper goggles that you can see. so you wont bang into others. and a swim cap is not for the ladies only. men can wear them too. try it.. it very useful.

dont rub the inside of your goggles, it will spoil the coating and make it fog faster. put some water and use your tongue to lick the inside and some water again to clear. usually that will work very well.
store the goggles in a cold damp place. ... putting them in the car or hot place will make it go bad quick.

hsve fun...
