forget about these 50m /100m personal best nonsense...

be able to swim 500m without rest for any stroke. that is the way to exercise...

if you cant do front crawl.. go and learn, instead of trying to learn from youtube... some may get it...many wont. as you can see yourself. you can go and flim yourself if you have a 'private' pool that will help you.

i would buy a proper kick board and do leg kicking up and down the pool. breast stroke kick is also okay. do 200m to 400m. rest if you need to.

please don't do flip turn in the public swimming pool. its a freaking nuisance . the same also for butterfly stroke , even if you can do it properly... you are just a bloody nuisance.

bring water after your swim... you sweat more than you think while swimming... ever got the feeling of being very hungry after swim? drink some water.. you wont be anymore.

please have a proper goggles that you can see. so you wont bang into others. and a swim cap is not for the ladies only. men can wear them too. try it.. it very useful.

dont rub the inside of your goggles, it will spoil the coating and make it fog faster. put some water and use your tongue to lick the inside and some water again to clear. usually that will work very well.
store the goggles in a cold damp place. ... putting them in the car or hot place will make it go bad quick.

hsve fun...
Agreed butterfly is nuisance.....but breaststroke also nuisance, spreading the hand and leg so wide

Disagreed....correct technique is suppose to spread the arm and leg. Only front crawl swimmer is not a nuisance in a crowded pool due to their slim profile. Unfortunately, so many people cannot swim front crawl...all take the easy way out and swim breast stroke.......I can only tolerate old people who swim breast stroke......if you are below 50 should make the effort to learn front crawl.

most sinkies prefer running and dunno front crawl so they only participate in marathons and avoid biathlons

no lah... breaststroke... your arms do not extend all the way out. you make a L when you start spreading your arms out.. then pull.
anyway.. any bad technique will make you be all over the place.. even front crawl...

nothing wrong to swim whatever stroke. lane should allow biggest profile in a clockwise or ccw flow to regulate flow

perhaps you have never swam in a lane with a guy doing butterfly stroke.
for sure its nothing wrong, but that stroke in a public pool is very disruptive...
:)
haha i get u. I personally think breast and free ok. not everyone can get the right technique to swim free in a reasonably efficient manner. im not even talking about super efficient.

I personally cannot. not matter how hard i try, I can’t beat 52sec for free.

enjoy the swim and not chase these .. i guess you are not an pro athletic and need to swim to make a living...
imo... able to swim for a long time is better than able to swim fast... think about it.. if you even get thrown overboard... do you want to be able to swim 50m is less then 50sec and then tired out... or able to swim at least 1km or more... perhaps to save your life.. :)

maybe see how many less then 60 sec lap can you do... without rest in between

Your many breaststroke has no cardio effect, you are not reaping the benefits of swimming. At best you are stretching your muscle only. If you swim front crawl and got tired, your heart will be pumping hard, circulating your blood to every corner of your body and secreting beneficial hormones making you look young, no drop hair, no white hair, no dull skin. I find my face skin is unusually tight after cold water swim. But my warm down stroke is always breaststroke....

every stroke you can make your heart pump... every stroke also can warm down...

if you can't control the speed and intensity of the stroke.. then most likely you are not doing it proper.

i am not a swim couch.. this is my opinion.

i have seen people swim front crawl and can't do it slowly. once they start they have to keep the arms swinging and kick hard... very hard...

i am sure if you swim the breaststroke to try to hit 60. his heart will beat very fast.

oh sorry was thinking of 50m or 100m.
if 100m sub60 is damn fast.

swimming fast is a measure of good technique and good stamina. find it hard to beat recent personal best cos dunno how to train well.

i also want to learn how to flip in e water. same.. dunno how to learn tt
