Taipei + ?? 8D7N

Hi guys,

3 of us will be travelling to Taiwan for the 1st time (well, kinda…) during August long-weekend, and would like some advice on parts of the trip.

Here’s the itinerary so far (Day 3 – Day 7 Not in sequence):

1) Airport -> Taichung -> ?? -> Hotel rest -> Feng Jia Night Market

2) ??

3) Travel from Taichung to Taipei -> XMD

4) Xingtian Temple -> Taipei Underground Mall (Taipei Main Station) -> Taipei East Shopping Zone -> Taipei 101 -> Shida Night Market (Can cancel one location)

5) Taipei Zoo -> Maokong Gondola -> Wufenpu -> Raohe Night Market

6) Wulai -> Danshui -> Fishermans Wharf + Lovers Bridge -> Shilin Night Market

7) Jinguashi -> Jiufen Old Street -> Shifen -> Keelung's Miaokou Night Market

8) Last min Shopping + Travel to Airport​

I read from previous threads that for first-timers, there is actually a lot of places to visit within Taipei for 8D7N. However, one of us is already heading to Taipei for 4 days in June, hence would prefer if we travel out of Taipei for a few days. No accommodation has been booked, so we’re flexible in any suggestions that you provide.

a) What can we do once we reach Taichung? Is there shopping locations/café which we can lounge about till the we check in the afternoon?
b) Where can we go on Day 2?
c) Or would you suggest we go elsewhere rather than Taichung?

Take a bus since u got time, to taichung. Ride takes abt 2 hours. You can leave luggage at hotel reception then head out. Alternatively, take hsr to taichung n bus up to cingjing and stay 3d2n up in the mountains. Can see sheep shows, carton king, little swiss.

Then once done, come back n spend a night in taichung for the fengjia nm. Before back to taipei.

Taichung is not bad la. Nearby and within 2-3 hours ride from taipei by bus or train.

Since all r quite new to taiwan, wouldn't recommend too far for u peeps. Scared later news report got 3 boys from Singapors holland in Taiwan.

Yes, not 3 boys. It's 2 girls strangled a guy on a trip in Taiwan. So travelling with a third party, booking a room is quite troublesome but can be done. so hope you have a good trip.

Say, is there any hotels in Taipei/Taichung which have hot springs in the room itself? I know Beitou & Wulai have, but am unsure of other areas.

Taichung city area dont have..Usually located near mountainous area..

Beitou and Wulai are your best bet in Taipei..Hotspring are area specific, if Cityinn tells u they have hotspring inside their hotel when it's located near TMS, u know something is wrong..

Yup..Say Taichung 2D1N, Cingjing 2D1N, Wulai/Beitou 2D1N..Left 5D4N or so..

Yea, either that, or I sacrifice either staying at Beitou or Cingjing, but if I sacrifice Cingjing, then what's the point of going to Taichung for 1 night stay, right?

Hope can make decision by next week, then can book hotels...

Beitou for a few hours enough liao. Doesn't warrants u to stay there.

Thanks for that advice. If that's the case, when I travel to Beitou/Wulai, I should search for hot springs that let us soak in our bathsuits.

Or go for the free ones? They are many locals who cross the bridge and soak there. Very communal type.

Not sure if safe or not...where to we keep our valuables?

Also, at Cingjing, some minsu offers a ride to Lushan hotsprings, right?

That u have to look after it.

Yes in cingjing, u can check with ur minsu.
