Recently bought TCL 65" C716 from Giant and its awesome. Singtel Cast can install and works like a charm. C716 comes wit 2 remotes which are great to use.

Gonna sell away my Chromecast with google TV.

Any of the bros here can confirm if tcl TV can install singtel cast?

And feedback on performance and remote controller?

Yeah their online system really screwed up. Mine was showing processing status more than 36 hours.

Next day I need to call twice to check order. It took awhile for my order to be invoiced and then delivered.

I suggest you go down to store to check availability. If available, chase for the online order. I suspect they give priority to walk in customers.

I can only hope and pray they dun mess it up. They took the model down from online store, so I will think they stop offering at physical stores too. I think they never control the inventory and maybe oversold to walk in customers earlier. Also, their order went in quite fast as in the receipt and invoice issued shortly after I paid up.

Getting low end model to use as secondary monitor and some cartoons streaming for kids. 40" full HD @ $299. Wanted 4k initially, but based on pricing, I am paying half price. 3 years later, maybe prices drop and the half price I saved today can get me a 40" 4K display for another 3 years then, so I can live with it.

Basically, Giant had a storewide 20% off all TVs from 10th or 11th till V day. So a lot of sets were sold then. Maybe overwhelmed. I missed the offer, but saw that they had a special pricing for 40s6500 @ $299, which was cheaper by more than 20% off from list price and placed order online.

For those that are going to hypermart to check the pricing and stocks, please update here.

For now, per their website, all the sets remaining are stock at list pricing (no more 20% off), so I believe no discounts/ promos in stores too even if they have stocks? If that is the case, I will suggest Lazada or shopee as they are having 3.3 sale.

This model was a hot seller. Back then I bought it as a walk-in customer. Went back a few times before it had stock. I didn't try to buy online as Giant is not well known for its online sales. I ordered when the salesman confirmed that is stock in-store and then I arranged for free delivery as there was an ongoing promo back then.

If I want to get TCL TV, I will definitely go check in-store or check with the distributor.

I pulled the trigger when I saw the price had further dropped to $299 and I was in market for a display. Nearest Giant hypermart for me is suntec after parkway closed and that is probably the one hypermart where u got the least sets to view anyway.

Very useful info. Mine PQ is Eu and client type is AP.

TCL has far good software support. I think these are more likely beta releases. The official one may be those updated through network. I have tested V625 firmware, still think V620 is the best.

Anyone has issue playing HLG YouTube (SmartTube Next) video?

You can see the sky was not displayed properly with weird artifacts...

Appear in certain HLG (not all) video's (HDR10 is OK) with very bright white light (sky bright clouds ,very bright street light).

In the picture preset, set to movie or PC. I knw that person's channel has that over exposed problem maybe they were using some software to edit colors.

Watching Disney+ on the P8S, HDR content still got that too dim/dark issue like Netflix content.

Used my phone to watch the same video (S21Ultra), of course cannot direct compare as the S21U screen is considered tier 1, missing out so much details and so much background on the TCL it seemes like watching another show like that.

Seriously, you are comparing an OLED display with a cheap LED display, why don't you get a Samsung OLED display then. It does not even have to be the top tier, the entry level one will do.

Yes I'm comparing it just like that. Just stating the facts. The thing is the TCL can go much brighter but it is always HDR content go way out of wack and everything got dimmed.

Cannot be even at night/ darkened room the picture remains so dark and become can't really watch/see the details right?

Might as well tell people this TV doesnt support HDR (in a way that it can be watched enjoyably) ? So I would recommend people, if you are hardcore HDR content watcher, stay away from this TV, you are totally missing out.

Yes you need minimum 1000 nits for HDR content display. P8S is only 300 nits. You need proper calibration even then it's not accurate. However I've been using the TV for a year plus and it's still watchable though.

Your description of it being too dark could be a panel issue maybe you could try disabling the auto brightness.

'supporting on the box' is quite different from reality.
Spend about 3 times more ..
My Z9D can go more than 5 times brighter than your set, but it also costs 5 times more... so YMMV...
