TCL TV discussion thread III [consolidated]

Sorry, noob question here: It seems like TCL TV price has increased a lot and almost on par with the price of LG and Samsung entry level TV. Moreover, Samsung and LG's default warranty is 3 years cover parts, labor and transport while TCL's only 1st year cover parts, 2nd and 3rd year don't .

As such, I wonder why should I go for TCL? Is it because it uses better panel as compared to Samsung and LG entry level TV?

You mean M113 fixed the usb to tv? I'm currently also using usb for certain medias, would be nice to be able to get 4k.
or do you mean your thumbdrive(being fat32/exfat?) unable to contain 4k movies? if so i think reformating thumbdrive to ntfs solves it?

Android based tv wont read ntfs usb by itself. Can only detect fat32. Need to purchase JS USB OTG which i will try in the future. I have not updated to M113 yet.

I updating firmware on my C715 with NTFS formatted USB.
No problem.

I have not tried the mobile app. When the tv is off it only detects infrared signal thus you are not able to turn on the tv using bluetooth or usb signal e.g. airmouse without infrared learning function.

Unless your mobile have infrared signal and able to learn i think it will work. Jm2c

Will it work with movies? My system just said 'eject external drive' with no other options and MX Player,VLC and Kodi couldnt read anything in it.

Playing video clips by local player (Dolby Vision,HLG,HDR10 and HDR10+) with my SD card,also in NTFS.
MX Player and VLC also no problem. Kodi not installed.
As i know exFAT didn't works (Android 9).

Ok I took the plunge and purchased it yesterday!

And it is here already.

I'm experiencing some problem with the set up as after i logged into google, I'm unable to pass the page where i'm asked to log in to my TCL account.

I clicked on the button but nothing happened.

I tried going back but Im stucked at the google account sign in page...

Anyone can assist?

Same thing happens to me, i think we need to complete the tcl login on the first setup instead of skipping it. Im waiting for my remote to arrive and then will reset the tv and do all over again see if its works

Try installing vpn to US ip and install Disney+.

Also, after factory setting, did you finished the initial setup? Where it asked for wifi etc. There is skip and okay button on tcl page. Can you get through and login tcl?

If no, then i think M113 is the answer. I spoke to seller to try them cuz I dont want to fry my tv its working well now i dont need google services.

I mean, considering the C825 saga....will they take R635 sell it as the R646?

In any case, SG no where selling Hisense rite? It seems from reviews that the U8G is the better budget premium TV....

R635 is running roku tv. No voice assistant switch near the power button behind the tv. They sell R635 already at much lower price.
