Maybe I'm wrong but I think 舊排 or 舊時 is part of their dialect.
Like Hongkies will normally use 食 but I have heard some Grandmas in Singapore use 吃 "Hag" occasionally depending on situation...

Yes, a lot of f Hongkies are from 顺德.
So far I have yet to hear "jaak" being used instead of "hak" as a pronunciation for 吃 so I guess it varies accordingly to which sub dialect group you belong to.
Anyway I believe most youngsters nowadays wouldn't understand the source once people from our generation pass on as Mandarin is the language de facto now in China, Singapore and very soon Hong Kong...

the last time I heard the word "Hak" 吃 was 40 years ago...

anyone know what does "gau3 bai2" means in cantonese? used to hear people use these two words but don’t know what chinese character they are and what they mean. not sure if is gau bai or gaau baai also. from context i think is something like “last time” or “used to”

Woow woow woow, please don't say so. I'm no language expert, just a Cantonese native speaker that's all.

I used 擺 mainly was because it's the only word my limited vocabulary could think of that pronounces as bai2.

Also, I think 擺 can be related to time because of 鐘擺 , pendulum. I remember when we count the frequency of something like 1 time, 2 times, 3 times... in Cantonese it's 一擺，兩擺，三擺... right?

So...

time = 擺,
how many time = 幾多擺
many times = 好多擺
numerous times = 幾廿擺，幾百擺
.
.
.
old time = 舊擺
