..... except for the indian guy (I believe he is not be from tech support)

Today I confirmed the chinese technician from avertek is an idiot & completely useless.

Sometime in the beginning of this year, I bought Silverstone CS380 mid tower casing.
I was concern about my current PSU, as the case came with 8 HD hotswap bays.
My response from avertek is might as well dont call

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/119624800-post4.html
Avertek though said 1200 base on 1TB x 8 disk. He did mention also depend on the power each disk require. So I told them my components as posted + 3 fans. I was told to get 1200W?

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/119770345-post17.html
Call avertek for clarification on my silverstone casing.
Answer is generic & tend to taichi to other product distributor as if they can wash their hands of the issue
me: How much watt it require to power the 2 molex on the hotswap bay & if I could use a single psu cable.
avertek: you need to ask Corbell if a single psu cable can supply the power.
me: :s11::s11::s11:
Repeated & clarify my question & still got back the same answer
There were other question but answer is basically the same patten. Could be the same guy on the phone. The tone & attitude of his voice make me want to slap him.
Horrendous tech support.

Eventually, tech support from corbell advise my current PSU should be sufficient but to be safe run & add 1 HDD at a time to test & some forum users here also said should be fine.

Shortly I realized, the HDD slotted in the hotswapped bays cannot read until I reboot the PC. Call avertek, same chinese technician
He basically babbled about windows need to setup properly...blah, blah, blah,
regardless when I explain to him my previous setup, except casing, was the same & windows can read the HDD whenever it is slotted in (using 2 X Coolermaster 5.25" bay hotswap drive)
So knowing it was pointless to continue, I hung up.

So today, I went through the bios more thoroughly, i realised the setting for Hotswap was disabled. After enabling it, the issue was solved.

So I can confirmed the chinese technician there for tech support is USELESS.

On a side note, I want to applaud the chinese technician from Corbell (I using seasonic PSU) for understanding my setup & concern first before, advising me accordingly

Actually Corbell the guy was pretty helpful, he said base on the x-650 should be ok. He was concern on the graphic card needing extra pins for power though when i mention the model.
He said to try boot with 2 or 3 hard drive first then observe for a week before putting more

In summary -

You bought a casing from Avertek. Their Tech Support is to ensure that the casing is working fine, which it is.

Your issues are with PSU power draw for multiple HDDs which has nothing to do with the casing and incorrect BIOS settings which is user error or in any case, MB rather than casing issue.

The casing came with hotswapped bays that is powered by 2 molex.
My previous setup had dedicated molex connection to each HDD.
I wanted to clarify if just 2 molex is sufficient, which yea concern the PSU which is not under this company.
Avertek was also quick to response, call PSU support, even before he understand the situation.

Corbell on the other hand, looked it as a whole system & advise me according.

One cannot just look at a single component & solve from there. Its a related network.

Then you should be buying the entire system from one distro, any problem just throw to them. It's nice if the technician agrees to troubleshoot your other parts, but he has no obligation, and has no product training to do so so he might even damage the product by accident.

If you choose to DIY PC, it is understood that determining which component is causing the problem is up to the user, then the distributor will help test and RMA the faulty component. That's why the prices are cheaper than buying OEM, because there is no troubleshooting support for the system as a whole.

If you don't want to troubleshoot, then you have to either pay a system integrator or buy OEM.

Whether or not the PSU distributes enough power thru 2 molex is solely a PSU issue. What does that have to do with Avertek?

Besides why would the Silverstone provide for only 2 molex for the entire set of hdd unless it were enough? It’s kinda like asking your car manufacturer, hey, my car only provide one fuel point, is it enough or not.

I’m not even sure why your question arises in the first place. Might be better for you not to use DIY PCs

PSU/MB problem blame Casing. U clearly don't even know which is for what. I suggest u to apologise now since it is clearly a MB issue

Add on, if the tech guy is so proficient, he would be an engineer instead. If he isn't, his skills must be private limited, why are u being so harsh to him?

I asked cause it was after this new casing that hot-swapped did not seem to work. Hence I asked.
AND AS I MENTIONED....he talked about all possible issues........this...that....further insinuating my HDD & window installation not set properly...... except to simply enable the setting in the MB. :s22:

I haven't the slightest clue where you got the idea i don't want to troubleshoot.

You are seriously retarded, you purchased a case then you called to ask how much power it need for HDD and expect them to entertain you?

This thread is BS and toxic, close it.

It was the hot-swapped bay issue that confirmed to me he is useless & before this telling me I need this very high watt PSU, corbell & some other user here said otherwise, that prompted me to post here.
And you are out of context. That not what I said
Of course i give silverstone the benifit of the doubt that 2 molex is sufficient. Its whether my PSU with 2 molex is sufficient. Actually to mention further, corbell initially said I should ask avertek, ......anyway, long story short, corbell use some initiative to understand my clarification & did advise me correctly. Which avertek fail to do for me. SO to me, that chinese technician, from avertek is useless

LOL you yourself said it’s a PSU problem. Then why criticise avertek who provided the casing?

You made the mistake to approach the wrong company. You made the mistake in identifying the problem with your pc. And you made the mistake of criticising Avertek who is blameless in all this.

With your approach and your lack of basic technical proficiency, you should go for a ready made PC. Any problems you can be lazy as you are now and just approach the maker of the ready made PC.

Have you not read clearly goggles?
Hot-swapped bay is part of the case.
I don't expect them to dance for me. Just to advise me, or advise on how I can solve. Not taichi away the issue.

Its not about the PSU LOL!! The hot-swapped not working so I ASKED avertek

On the wattage hot-swapped bay issue, I don't see what wrong with speaking with avertek & corbell.

Whole world could see the problem and fault yet he refuses to accept it.

Hence it is either

1. He have explained his situation wrongly
2. He have trouble understanding the situation

Either way, u are the problem leh.

Define whole world

Likewise, You are of course entitled to your own opinion

To put it simply, I asked avertek, my hot-swapped not working. Technician explain the reason why, blaming my windows installation & my HDD....when in fact, just need to enable in the BIOS setting, which i only found out on my own recently

If you need me to define, you are already missing something.
