term = insurance
life/endowment/savings/kids education = insurance plus fixed return investment in bonds etc
ilp = insurance plus variable investment in a mixed of bonds and stocks.

the latter two incurred hefty commission compared to DIY.

So term insurance after paying for like 30-40yrs, we won't be getting any cents back?

Just got the Prudential Vantage plan 1m insured. I don't suppose anyone thinks the Aviva SAF plan is better in terms of premium cost?

I am a pru consultant myself. To be fair, i think AVIVA SAF term is one of the cheapest for coverage >$500K. I've seen my client working in Mindef getting this group term. But am not sure it open to only midef and SAF staff or all who served NS before.

Correct if i am wrong, i call in aviva check before. Critical illness cover max to 65yo. And the premium after 65yo (cover death) will be adjusted on yearly basis. They will send you a letter on 65 to ask whether you want to extend.

For <$500K, from what i have review, NTUC LUV is a good one to go for. Aviva Group term for NSmen also a good one before others.

Pruterm vantage is good, for those who cant get Aviva group term.

Not true... For a $1Mill SAF GTL cost $128/month. I have found a company that quote $80-90/month and it's not Pru Vantage.

Question!

Say at 25 years old my annual income is $24k. No kids and parents still (relatively) young. I should be getting personal coverage of about 10x my income right? So assume i get term insurance coverage of 300k TPD/Death/CI till the age of 65.

Then 10 years down the road I start to have kids plus parents retire. Will I be able to increase my coverage on the existing term insurance or do I have to purchase a new one? If it's the latter, then what happens to my existing term insurance?

Thanks in advance!

From my understanding, increase of coverage is usually subject to underwriting and declaration of state of health/medical checkup at the point of application. You can just buy another policy for the additional coverage you need and still keep the existing one.

Aviva GTL is max up to 70...

Pruterm Vantage is max up to 100...

Dun compare apple with pear.. find another company term that can insure till 99. Then you compare with PruTerm Vantage..

price around the same.

I'm not afraid to share my 29/30 YO PruTerm Vantage. Male Smoker is $305 per month.

my husband wanted to buy this but in the end i stopped him. we feel that yes the family can get the 1m after he is died (before the policy ends) but feel like no meaning living already. and if the family or children know you have this policy will they treat you good because of the money or because they love you? not a very good plan in my thinking. =:p

What a weird but valid thinking. Hence, it explains through and through why i will only buy term till ~65yo, where a loss of income will become a burden to the family.
