Dropped again to $910 in post-market trading. Forewarned is forearmed:

Quoted from a comment:
" Imagine a company that produces less than 1/10 the vehicles as Toyota yet is more than 3x the value. And it’s investors say it’s because it’s more than a car company except 97% of its revenue is from selling cars. Craziest thing you’ve ever heard. "

Not to mention the difference in margin. Most auto makers have razor thin margins,it's a capital intensive industry.

It is one of the dumbest argument from the bears.

If Tesla sold the same amount of cars as Toyota, the PE ratio would be 10-20 this Thursday.

Simply Wall ST actually uses the more traditional and widely accepted two-stage DCF model to derive fair value which is more reliable, not the PE/EPS model like the one below which will be much worse.
me use a combo of technique (2-stage, PEG, DDM) to come up with intrinsic. me find Simply Wall street direction right but value sometimes out.

oso such models simply tell u what share price should be given all the assumptions. need to add comparative valuation to see how 'cheap' is company in relation to other companies (within and across sector) cos this is the level where dealmakers' algo operate.

Imagine a auto company trading at 100b market cap at one time, but barely producing any vehicle volume worth mentioning?

Production doesn't matter when every unit is sold at a loss.

Take GM for example

LG Energy Solution, GM to build $2.1 billion battery factory in U.S.

SEOUL, Jan 25 (Reuters) - South Korea's LG Energy Solution (LGES) plans to spend $2.1 billion with General Motors (GM.N) to build a U.S. electric vehicle (EV) battery plant, parent firm LG Chem (051910.KS) said on Tuesday.

LGES and GM are expected to fund the project equally via Ultium Cells, their U.S.-based battery joint venture, for what will be their third joint battery plant in the United States, LG Chem's regulatory filings showed.

LGES declined to provide detail on the location or production capacity of the new plant.

In December, Reuters reported that GM had proposed building a $2.5 billion battery plant near Lansing, Michigan, with LGES. read more

LGES commands more than 20% of the global electric vehicle battery market and supplies Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE) and Hyundai Motor Co (005380.KS), among others.

It is already building two plants with GM in Ohio and Tennessee to manufacture 70 GWh of batteries, which could power about 1 million EVs by 2024. read more

LGES has production sites in the United States, China, South Korea, Poland and Indonesia.

Its announcement came ahead of the company's market debut later this week after launching South Korea's biggest ever IPO.

The IPO attracted $12.8 trillion worth of bids from institutional investors and $96 billion from retail investors.

Tesla hype is still in the air. Look at its prices, it is resilient. I wonder who and how to cause the price to tumble down if they were to fall to fair value.
