Tesla: Tragic Correction Could Be Coming

May 26, 2022 7:00 AM ETTesla, Inc. (TSLA)31 Comments1 Like

Summary

  • The big question in everyone's mind is: Will Musk still proceed with Twitter after cracks start to show up.
  • TSLA has lost $487B in enterprise value since 4 April 2022, which may require Musk to pledge even more shares for the purchase.
  • Assuming a further fall of 60% in P/E valuations, TSLA's price target would fall tragically to $258.54.
  • Therefore, we believe that TSLA's future is in jeopardy, assuming further downwards pressure from the highly bearish market.

Many analysts have also downgraded TSLA stock's price target, given the endless barrage of negative news thrown at Musk in recent weeks. As a result, given that the company will most likely report unsatisfactory FQ2'22 earnings in July 2022, we expect a further decline in its valuations and stock prices then, unless there is more clarity in its Twitter deal and drastic improvements to its Shanghai outputs for the quarter. Nonetheless, we are uncertain if TSLA is able to catch up to its April and May reduced production by H2'22, given that China's Zero Covid Policy had somewhat crippled the local supply chains for the next few weeks, if not months.

In addition, given the impending recession, we do not expect the overly bearish market to let up anytime soon. As a result, we recommend TSLA investors with lower risk tolerance to sell some of their holdings now, although we remain hopeful of some recovery for now.

One of the dumbest articles I have read.

1. Twitter have nothing to do with Tesla business . Elon musk no longer use $TSLA stocks as margin loan, he will not get margin call.
2. Comparing P/E ratio with peers? Look at their debt, margin, business model, growth and demand.$tsla have no peers.
3. China Covid situation? Closed loop circuit for key manufacturing sector. Giga shanghai is ramping to pre-covid level.
4. Chip shortage worries? Tsla know how to deal with chip shortage issue. If anything, tsla is the best automaker to navigate through the shortage
5. Analyst downgrade? Everyone will be a millionaire if they buy/sell according to analyst recommendations. fyi, most analyst have price target higher than current share price.

I have seen better TSLAQ arguments.

Some idiots say Tesla is only worth $100 and over rated as compared to other automakers. They will remain idiots for the next 20 years.
Ford, GM financials is piece of ****.

imo , the only bear argument is 'competition is coming, tesla margin will compressed'
But the truth is, it have been coming since 2016....

Indeed China EV are competitive in their domestic market, but even BYD have pathetic margins.
Chinese love Tesla, still one of the best selling models.
Through the interviews, they rather buy a model that is selling well worldwide. Similar mindset as sorting top sales on your ecommerce platform.

For the rest of the world, Tesla is definitely the top choice when it comes to EV.

Doesn't matter if it's long or short, can make $$$ = good trade

Just don't be confused into thinking that the recent drawdown is because the tsla bear thesis is finally working; it's not (like always). The macro is actually the one doing the work for you.

I'm actually married to the stock for at least the next decade :ROFLMAO:

But I don't mind others making money from shorting - cause it does not affect me (maybe cheaper shares for me lol)

I'm only concerned about people who may be confused into believing that the company is fundamentally unsound, which can't be further from the truth. I think shorting tsla with this mindset will destroy their own financials over the long term.

I think more importantly are the business models and what are the areas of growth.

If TSLA is treated like a car manufacturer like Ford, GM, their fundamentals do not make sense, given that the auto-industry is shrinking.

But if you look at the whole picture of what TSLA is doing, they are way ahead of the technology and manufacturing curve as compared to their competitors
