I think more importantly are the business models and what are the areas of growth.

If TSLA is treated like a car manufacturer like Ford, GM, their fundamentals do not make sense, given that the auto-industry is shrinking.

But if you look at the whole picture of what TSLA is doing, they are way ahead of the technology and manufacturing curve as compared to their competitors
In fact I won’t say auto is doom. It is about how you do business. Many mobile manufacturers also buay kan but apple is so solid. End of the day is about is innovation and delighting customers.

For EV, the key is infrastructure to support the EV. TSLA is following the path set by Apple. They are building EV infrastructure for TSLA vesicles. This infrastructure will likely be incompatible for other EV. TSLA has the advantage given their valuation has given them access to capital the other EV makers do not have.

For the other EV makers, they will probably band together and create a shared infrastructure that is similar to Android. This is because none of the them individually have to ability to create infrastructure for their users.

Tesla's sale has been hit not only by the Pandemic but also by other factors such as competition. Its sale and market share slowed down to 3% and below before the pandemic in 2019 and onwards.

What competition? :ROFLMAO:

Obviously, there is some data discrepancy.

Found the picture you've shown on Twitter which has no reference nor any other details.

The sale growth I have quoted showed almost zero sale growth YOY in 2022 in the US

This chart shows the market share of Tesla has also dropped by much in 2020.

You can find the sale breakdown details from here

I prefer to believe the one with detailed breakdowns than just a picture. Maybe the sale growth for 2022 was not a complete one since it is not at year-end. As is, 300K plus car already sold in 1Q2022.

Tesla to seek investor approval for 3-for-1 stock split

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/business/tesla-seek-investor-approval-3-1-stock-split-2740701
Electric-vehicle maker Tesla on Friday (Jul 10) proposed a stock split at a three-to-one ratio in the form of a stock dividend, according to a regulatory filing.

The company said Larry Ellison, Oracle Corp's co-founder and a self-proclaimed close friend of Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, will not stand for re-election to Tesla's board when his current term ends.

Ellison is among the top investors who have promised funding towards Musk's US$44 billion acquisition of social media firm Twitter Inc.

Tesla's stock split proposal will be put to vote on August 4 and if approved, it would be the latest after a five-for-one split in August 2020.

The company will also ask shareholders to vote to reduce its board of directors' terms to two years from three. If approved, directors' terms would be staggered over two years.

Following a pandemic-induced rally in the technology shares, Alphabet Inc, Amazon.com Inc and Apple Inc, too, have in the recent past split their shares to make them more affordable.

While stock splits make shares of a company cheaper for its employees and investors, some brokerages already allow customers to buy fractions of individual shares, which makes the benefit of stock splits less exaggerated than in the past.

Meanwhile, Tesla shareholder proposals included items on employees' rights to form unions and an annual report on the company's efforts to prevent sexual harassment and racial discrimination.
