MUFG will have 2nd round interview with the hiring manager if the HR thinks you are suited for the role. The first round is with their HR.

How is the interview? Quite curious how Jap banks works (e.g. culture/ structure etc)

Can share what hr ask?
how do you go about "insert scenario" / describe a time where "something happened" and how you resolved it, how interested are you, why interested in the role..

ok i guess. Short 20 min chat. Was really rusty in my interview skills. Yesterday with another japanese firm was the first I had in nearly 6 years.

Culture wise, they seem to be improving. more multinational so less of a jap culture

Same here. I guess there might be quite a number of candidates to go through each FI HR Department

The selection process should be something like this below. Quite a drawn-out process that will take weeks.
  • FIs select candidate(s) for interview
  • Multiple rounds (likely 2) of interview elimination
  • Offer and see candidate(s) want to accept or not
  • If candidates drop-out during interview phase / don't accept, select from the next ranking candidate in the list.
  • Continue with process until all trainee slots filled

The number of candidates selected for interview also depend on how many trainee slot each FI have for each track. (e.g. FI has 1 slot for CS. HR maybe just need to shortlist top 5 for interview. Don't need contact so many)

I think the more active FIs have already sent out interview invites. (e.g. DBS, UOB, JP, Deutsche, UBS etc.)

So if at this stage no interview invite, but status still under evaluation, it likely means u are not on the top of the FI candidate list.

Have to wait and see. Or hope the slower FIs start contacting candidates and u are called up...

any idea previous batches usually avg 1 FI has how many slots?
Actually CS can be broken down into multiple roles (e.g. SOC/ CTI/ CSIRT/ CS PMO/ Cyber Awareness etc.)

Depending on whether each role has an opening for TFIP trainee, the total no. of slots available for CS track in each FI varies.

So u have to ask each FI separately. Some might want to get more trainees this round .

it depends from FI to FI, some only have single digit across all tracks that they picked. some big boys absorbed like close to 20 from 1 area like cloud or Security. this was in 2020 but likely similar to happen this year for that big boy. but don't expect all to be residing within a single team, it will be scattered across anyways.. so this question should not matter.

Just wanted to ask you guys, how many of you who are going through the interviews have been doing your own Kali hacking or labs in your free time? I've only been doing the Sec+ theory for cybersecurity and it seems like it's not enough.

I only started learning Kali Linux. But for cyber, the spectrum is super wide and each specialization goes very deep too.

I guess what stuff to learn as a start depends on the cyber role u are going into..

Actually, after going through some interviews, i feel that the interview is not really for new comer for career change, more like normal job interview application process. None is easy, many have tech questions. Does anyone share the same thoughts?

Same, went through a few interviews and find it no different from a normal job application. Feels like the expectations of FI and IBF can be quite blur.

Yup, the problem is expectation on you will be high and then they will expect you to do more than the job scope. You can't quit too due to contract. If such things happened, not sure is there a channel to feedback?

yeah, felt quite jaded after a few interviews. and the track i interviewed for is those considered less technical roles (i.e Agile project management)

It really seem that the FIs are looking more for people who have IT experience who aren't in the industry yet. Not really for newcomers who has neither tech or finance background.
