Thanks a lot!

Had a call with DBS HR yesterday for pre-selection round... think i screwed it up because it seems to me she wanted someone with experience...

Take it as a good learning experience lor... you still have your interviews with
(1) FWD in CS &
(2) JP Morgan in DA?

Update:

Just got an email that FWD will contact me to schedule for an interview under the CS track.

I also received an email to do the caliper assessment, anyone knows how to ace that ? Like certain traits or anything that they are looking out for?

I know there is no right or wrong answer but just trying my luck here.

How was your CS interview with FWD?

Anyone know what will happen if you become pregnant halfway through the traineeship?

This question was raised during the webinar. IBF mentioned that there will only be annual leave 21 days and medical leave 30 days (if I'm not wrong). No other leave will be given. If one gets pregnant , she has to take leave using the leave she has. the FI might work out a plan with you to extend your tfip beyond the 2 years (depending on how long you took leave). I'm not too sure on the further details. Maybe when you sign the training agreement can ask the FI and IBF in detail.

For me I am bias towards CC, but CS is also a good route if you have more passion on "hacking" than "operations".

Probably, I will choose CS. My previous job is similar to part of DevOps role but not related to CS or CC.

If i take CC, probably it is not straight forward to jump into CS later.
If i take CS, i can still go into CC or DevSecOps related roles later and I have already gotten myself the AWS certification.

I can imagine what a day2day work is like for Cloud Computing (operations, migration, designing/architecting the cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting the cloud application issues). However, until now, i have no idea what is a day2day work is like in Cyber Security.

Laptop recommendations?

Dear all, hoping the first batch of TFIP is reading this. Not sure if there any recommended laptop to get as i do not have one and understand that it would be required for the first 6 months of studies.

Thanks

Get one with 16 GB RAM if you want to run virtual machines. :s12:

Just finished my interview with FWD, it was quite ok i guess.

Just a question, during the structured training, we are not supposed to report to work right? Is this purely school for that duration?

Another query: Are we able to join the organization before the TFIP Structured training commences?

Was this for the CS programme? Who did you spoke to?
Do you know how many candidates are they taking in?

Answering ur qns

1) yes we will be solely studying in school for the first few months.
2) need to check with IBF with regards to that arrangements.

Curious on the age demographic for the shortlisted applicants. I see some young (presumably by nick and by the conversation) and some mid career changers (30s to 40s?) Anyone in their late 40s or early 50s?

For me i rather spin up VM using AWS EC2 remotely rather than virtualbox/hyper-v.

My vm settings will always be 2 cpu and 2gb ram.
Hardcore bro... hardcore.. i suppose you couldnt take CC because previously you are in working in this area right..

Hi Dalias, Jgyy1990 already gotten offers from OCBC & UOB for CC Track. His problem is not on will I be picked but which FI between the 2 shall I pick? I noticed you seemed to be somehow quite particular about his past working experiences in this said field? Is there a particular concern?

Just a gentle check on the same note... Does this experience help or not help to secure the vacancy during the interviews if I may ask? Personally, I had working experiences in Project Management but not within a CC environment. Since my last phone interview with Citi on 29June, I had not heard from them again. Do u folks think it was because I do not have CC hands-on experience?

Sidetrack a bit, since we will be getting allowances and we are not considered employment, is it taxable? Sounds like we no need to declare any income for the next two years if selected into the program.

I don't have CC hands on experience. Got offer for CC so not an issue. However, I do have other IT technical background.
