Guys sorry to ask. I realise after reading so many comments, I feel at disadvantage. I read the terms required and all I have is and local poly IT Diploma. I have 0 background in working IT at all. I guess my chances is almost 0% even though i did get the assessment test and completed it.
Didn't knew you require IT background afterall...
And for CS, will they eventually test you in your coding? I have been practicing courses online for the past 1 month and I'm very scare if they test you on coding as I last learn coding from school is 4 years ago.

Cyber security is mostly about knowing how to use the appropriate tools. I can only assume they would teach or want us to know the basics of using them. Tools such as kali’s terminal commands, nmap scans, wireshark and more. As for the requirement for knowing basic coding language, I’m guessing we just need to be able to read and understand code. If you are a cybersecurity analyst.

i personally think you have nothing much to worry about, I feel that if you have been invited for the assessment. You’ve already 50% there. I don’t know how the interview will be, but I guess they won’t get too technical since they will be courses.

I'm afraid that there will be another assessment or maybe by a slightest chance an interview and they require you to code. so in that case, should i stop learning coding and concentrate more on CS apps/tools? paiseh i'm completely new to this industry. I regret alot not entering IT after getting my diploma.

From what i read in the old posts, there is only a behavioural assessment after the technical assessment test (the 1st assessment we received) and followed by a interview. I believe this programme is targeted at people with no CS experience since there are training involved. My situation is worse than you as the last time i did programming was 6-7years ago but I'm still feeling pretty good about this programme.

I don't recall them saying anything about programming. But i think what PaperT0wel said is true, maybe the interviewer might ask u about those CS tools.

Thank bro. Was worried from the very start as 1 of the requirements is "1 basic understanding of a programming langauge" and the first thing that came to my mind, jialat sure will ask to code. hope it wont happen....

I think need to know the some basic concept of programming but not the indepth type. In future u might learn to use script or even troubleshooting come handy.

My first reaction too. The last time i did programming is 2009. I relearn abit of python then found out this thread, so straight away do the assessment without much hesitation. Assessment is ok, but i tried cloud computing kinda difficult.

By the way are we allowed to enroll into more than 1?

IMO, if you can't code, then you shouldn't be in tech field. Everywhere you go, it is about automation and writing scripts or tools.

Everything is gonna be codified...IaC is a good example on how noncoder sysadmin is gonna lose their jobs

Yes. Knowing how to code is important. But I guess it really depends on the job that you have, not all tech jobs are heavy on coding. I don't believe that we should deter others from attempting to pursue tech jobs, they might not be fluent in coding it now, but it does not mean that they won't be great in the future. Hence, the purpose of this program is to give others a shot in pursuing a career they are interested in.

it only requires the basic knowledge of 1 programming language. Tho the definition of basic can be subjective. I believe that for this case basic would mean the for or while loops, if - else statements, switch statments, array, arraylist, I/O and more. I dont think it would reach the point of data structures such as BST or even to deal with wait, sleep functions, playing with heap and stack memory in the OS.

Yes, you can enroll more than one. just apply any what you want, and then they will evaluate.

I encounter alot of noncoder compliance or security analyst people. I would say that alot of them are just paper pusher without technical solution. If you wanna be goood, you need to understand coding and automation.

ya I agree, bare minimum to join the tech field is to be able to code a bit. cybersecurity uses the terminal a lot and its better to know some basic shell commands.
