From what i know, there are over 200 applicants that are submitted to FIs. They are the ones that pass IBF assessment.

According to one of the FI's HR, this year's selection process is different from previous years.

Instead of applicants choosing 3 FIs, for this year, FIs are choosing applicants.

So HR have to comb through many resumes for all tracks to email / call for interview. Definitely will take a long time.

Let's be patient and hope for the best! :)

As for IBF/ FIs' selection criteria, not so sure about it myself.

But I don't think Govt/ IBF can force the FIs to accept those who are older/ jobless first.

I believe the FIs would still want to select the most suitable candidate(s) who can excel at the training program to:
  • Benefit the FI's operations during the training duration
  • If possible (budget allows) transition the trainees to contract/ full time employees. Don't waste sunk cost used to train them...

yeah, i always thought that its quite conflicting between the Govt/IBF objectives of this program vs the hiring companies interests.

Generally speaking, as a hiring manager you would want someone who has the most utility to the company. Might be it in terms of competency (prior IT knowledge/ programming background) or other factors such as age, education level or work experience.

That's why some of us took up programming or IT related certification to enhance our employability.

Those who qualified under the IBF program requirements are probably invited for the first assessment.

After that, its all up the the FIs to decide who they wanna extend their 2nd round of assessment/interviews.

Dun lose faith for those who has yet to receive any news while u see others having multiple invites. End of the day, each applicant can only choose one track and one FI to join, so there might still be opportunities later on, if their preferred candidates didnt choose them back.

Actually, it depends on the list of candidates being submitted to the banks. If it's in .doc format, and there are 100 applicants, employer will have to open the files 1 by 1 to review. The order depends on the file name

If IBF have a more sophisticated system which allows their clients to filter based on the TA score, age, job status, education, work experience etc, like a database search format, then it really based on the hiring manager preference.

I'm really hoping why I'm not getting more calls is because they're going through the .doc files in alphabetical order lol.

Does anyone know how many candidates each FI will accept eventually? Is it 1 per FI?

Good luck to everyone in the mean time!

Depends on the FIs. Definitely not 1 per FI. 1 FI can have many candidates depending on their available head count

True, i agree it can be quite conflicting. Certain FIs can make use if this program and have 'free' labour (since IBF pay for the allowance)

Thanks for sharing! Sorry I didn't phrase my question accurately, what I meant to ask was if it was 1 candidate per track per FI. It'll be great if the FIs are open to accepting more than 1 candidate per track

In my opinion, i think those who did not receive any interviews now are either failed their assessment or got rejected by the FIs.

Hmmm idk, it feels like there are too few. There are 19 FIs looking for Cybersecurity candidates, so there should be more people receiving invites overall no?

I just finished 1 interview. Hmm how to say.... technical test on cloud and security, how to do this n that. Hmm i dont think the training will cover this. So im not sure FI know they hiring ppl who are less experience or know everything to begin with. I have no idea of what is their expectation.

I am more curious if this is a foreign or local bank?

Sounds like a local one. :o

I guess the FIs are looking for candidates with IT knowledges. Their objectives maybe different from what IBF had.

What kind of questions did they ask if you don't mind sharing? Were they questions similar to the technical assessment or more difficult?

Since SMU and Bridging Minds are listed as the training providers, i'm guessing the training material won't deviate too far from their existing courses offered which quite alot of ground from what i've seen so far

Haiz... I guess it's an inevitable situation.

FIs can't accept all applicants. So they have to choose.

When u allow choosing/ selection, the natural thing is to select candidate with more knowledge/ skills.

Unless IBF pays the FIs to accept everyone. But too ex. So it is impossible.

The other way is to turn this into something similar to other training programmes. Pay lesser (1-2.5k) and accept more ppl...
