For me my next plans is to aim for sgunited skills if I am not successful for this TFIP. On a footnote, I personally feel that you are pretty suitable to take up the role based on your messages in this thread.

why not go for NUS iss graduate diploma instead if not successful for IBF?

hi jgyy, ok noted, i do notice that there are many facebook tech groups around. for example, say you are into cloud computing, you can join various cloud groups on FB. you will see many relevant newsfeed on the cloud stack.

i m looking to do a masters in cs (parttime) in the foreseeable future. trying to learn as much as possible on cs related courses before i 'dare' to even apply for one (itchy backside finding trouble for myself). haha.

having said that, i hope to see my future self doing research or working in a startup as i m really quite 'sick' of the corporate world. those who work long enough would know what i mean (mid-life crisis). thus, it is also an irony for me to apply to TFIP (hope to get in and also hope not to get in ... kinda mixed feeling inside).

anyway, hope to hear good news from everyone. cheers.

My advise is to just apply. I applied TFIP same time as SMU MITB and will be starting classes in August.

TFIP to me is a way to get industry experience during my master. I will apply for internship in data science roles if I don't get TFIP. Really hope I can get in though, less financially taxing for me.

NUSISS have to burn 10k SGD, even if got 6 months internship with 1k per month, still burn about 4k SGD. Whereby the SGUnited Skills that you provided the link to is paid 1.2k allowance for up to 1 year. That is a lot better than a graduate diploma cert to me.

Up-Skill in Software Development & Applied AI

Click the link above to see the list of paid courses. (1200 * 12) - 1000 = 13.4k; This is how much the government is paying you if you choose to take up 1 year of sgunited courses. Plus you can leave anytime during the course with no penalty if you found a new job halfway.

I need to clarify this before anymore misunderstandings occurs. I was offered the course for August 2020 batch. I have never entered this course before. Not even taking up one of the modules.

eh the link u gave quite good sia. those are post grad diploma? i will take a look later.
ya the tution fee damn high for the iss post dip and Mtech/Masters in Analytics.

how much the total cost for SMU MITB? need to go attend class on weekday evening and weekends?

i m looking at some online masters from US ... like Illinois U, U Penn, Georgia Tech, UT Austin. Msc CS from Stanford is the best but cost about USD 60+k. haha.

i m considering doing research or work in a startup in the future.

which track and FI did you apply? how's the interview?

as havetheveryfun and jgyy mentioned before, i think those polys and ntuclearninghub pay-as-you-study courses are pretty good in the sense that they pay you 1200 per month to study and probably you can work and study at the same time if you WFH.

48k SGD 10% off if you local uni alumni 20% if you smu alumni, classes from 7-1030 pm on weekdays and morning on Saturdays.

I applied to all tracks but got 2 interview with DA track only, my resume fit is more towards DA side which explains why I did not have any interview for other tracks. One of the FI I applied to is with Goldman, regarding what they ask check my reply below.

smu mitb should be reputable but for the price tag 40-48k and gotta attend class in person, i give it a miss. haha.

so i guess you have some background in python, r, sql, ml models, statistics, eda stuff? if you do, i think you will cruise in your masters. exciting times for you. :)

its not post grad diploma.. it is those kind of 3-5 day courses, many of them added up across 50-60 days..

u can check this link directly for better understanding : https://www.ntuclearninghub.com/sgunitedskills/

jgyy post helps to find other training institutions taking part in this initiative apart from ntuc

Only python, SQL and statistics. Looking forward to class, saw the course outline, quite detailed and difficult. Gotta work hard!

I am listening to the webinar by NTUC now. You listening to the talk also?

yea just wanted to see how easy it is to get in.. looks like also may not easy to get in depending on how many people apply.

also looks like if they help you to find a job you have to accept it, may not have a choice to reject due to location etc..

Have mentioned it to the interviewers upfront, if it affects my chances of entering TFIP then it can't be helped. But part time masters only have 2 classes a week, usually evening or on Saturdays.

Besides, what they teach in TFIP 3 months is very basic DA modules, totally not sufficient for you to perform your day to day tasks in the FI if you are to do any serious DA work. I specialise in the data analytics track in MITB, it should be a win win situation where I can tackle more advanced topics during my traineeship with the FI.

For those on DA route, I have questions to ask as this is what I experienced myself before. Does anyone have hands on experience with real time data analytics?

Cause I have been writing python scripts to get some real time statistics, for example how many people have posted issues in jira/github over a period of time and their trends. The easy solution is to calculate it beforehand and store the statistics in another DB. However the problem is that these extra Stateful DB are incurring additional infrastructure cost which makes maintenance more convoluted over time.

So for those familiar with real time data analytic, how do you manage to calculate huge chunks of data within seconds? For me I have been pushing my code to the limit with multithread, multicpu and async await.
Dear all analysts, I would like to ask if I would like to learn one, is Python the best to go with?

caliper is like 30% about knowing how to recognize picture patterns, other 70% is personality questions. Just do not give extreme end answers. For example from a scale of 1-10, do not answer 1 or 10 most of the time, the system can determine whether the answers are legit or not.

OK cool. how many questions and how long are we given?
