I think non telco set does not support VoLTE.

It does. Mine is a retail set from Mobyshop, supports VoLTE (voice over LTE/clear voice/etc) on singtel.

if you use ip6+ i guess it is the same size or smaller compare to z5p
ip6s+
158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm

z5 premium
154.4 x 76 x 7.8 mm

ip6s+ is longer and wider( 3.7mm x 1.8mm) than z5 premium, and un-noticeably thinner (0.7mm)

So can I say that buying a non telco set is better to have more internal memory?
maybe. but i doubt non-telco sony z5 have significantly larger internal memory than the telco ones

the apps and data are quite small, even after it adds up

Is it really good experience? Yesterday i went to m1 to test it. The experience was not that great compared to g4. I will probably get g4 unless i eventually decided that battery life is the most important factor. Notwithstanding, g4 provides free spare battery, albeit troublesome to bring along and change.

Sent from Xiaomi MI 4I using GAGT
in my opinion, a phone's cam is more than just photo taking. got to consider the video capture ability as well

considering both photo and video taking, xperia z5 is at the top.

maybe some phones have better algo producing better pic etc, but if they lose in video taking segment, and to me that is not comprehensive.

and just my humble opinion, longer battery life outweigh the little differences in camera performance.

so over all looking at the whole package, i would still prefer z5

but, to each his own :)

The 27GB does not include the additional data from the google and telco apps.

Some of these offenders are google play services, play store, chrome, youtube and maps, and the update data to download before you can use them.
You cannot uninstall them, they will still take up some spaces after being disabled.

So it is fair to say 20GB will be available, including the mentioned apps data.

Hmmm...for mine Z/Z2/Z3TC still left with abt 11GB, which used abt 5GB. All from ST telecom. But looklike Z5 used up abt 10GB which is alot meh. :(

The thing is, what is the point of having a battery-consuming function, some more on a small screen? Some more don't forget the function only applies when you are looking at photos and watching movies.

Not like you'll wanna neglect your tablet and start using your phone to watch dramas. Before you know it, your phone will die before you reach home and your girl can't reach you.

Not to forget the 'Premium' is friggin big.
agreed that having 4K resolution might not be that useful, but for mere $100, the features of z5 premium offers over z5 might be quite worthy =P

as for battery life, z5 premium have larger battery (3430mAh) vs z5 (2900mAh). so that might helped offset the battery consumption

You have to check the available storage after you uninstall and disable some bloatwares.

In my case, people complained about 8GB remaining from 16GB of S5.
I did some cleaning up and installed some essential apps, still end up with over 9GB free space to spare.

So I'm like a broken record about the "mottling" but I just saw a glimpse of hope when I saw people backing a comment saying;

I've never switch this off in previous Z phones. Nobody in this forum recommended doing that and the Sony ambassador at the launch event have no idea why the over-sharpening effect is highly apparent.

Those who tested it, can you find that off option?

Will test the camera quality again.

On Z3, you can somewhat solve it by consciously going to higher megapixel to shoot but the problem is it kept switching back to 8MP default.

Most times you forgot to switch and usually to shoot a fleeting moment which is taken anyhow, thus the reason to likely need recropping or recomposing of pics.
this reply might be a bit late, but all xperia z serires can turn off x-reality

and its rather easy to locate it. just go to setting -> display -> image enhancement

from my experience using z1 z2 z3

Normally will based on out of the box storage space leftover. With 20GB, it is like alot usage by ST. :(

Z5 compact review by androidauthority

PROS
Ideal for those looking for a sub five inch phone.
Flagship specifications.
IP certification.
Sony apps and extra features.
Great battery.
CONS
720p display not for the spec hungry.
Small screen not optimal for some activities.
Camera doesn't live up to its hype.
Overheats when recording 4K video.
