I am not a Sentosa Cove property owner. :s13:

And as long as you are not overly leveraged or holding too many properties, you will not need to worry.

Good luck with your TSLA.

I am seeing a v-shape recovery now.

Shorting is never easy. You either make it big or you DCS.

There wasn't too much resistance from the population for the govt to bailout Lehman etc.
There wasn't resistance to the bailout of Lehman Brothers because it didn't happen.

Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, and New York Federal Reserve President Timothy Geithner claimed that extending a short-term loan to Lehman Brothers would have been illegal. That's not true, but they had some discretion.

Guys, let's take a step back. Long-term investing in the stock market is not for everyone. People have different risk appetite and priorities in life. It's normal.

This is something interesting/strange which I have never told anyone. I have a sibling, working, earning a decent wage. Guess what his investing/financial path is like. You all must be thinking 'Of course he would follow your dividend investing style' right? Hahaha! Nope. I have talked to him at length, even showing him my blog, but I could not convince him to do dividend investing, or any other kind of equity investing. He decided to follow the well-trodden path which many Singaporeans take. The property investment path. Nothing wrong with that. This is his 10-year plan, get married, go honeymoon, buy a BTO flat, have kids, after MOP, sell the flat and upgrade to a condo, have 2nd kid, maybe a car and a maid. It is perfectly viable. I never forced my ideas upon him. I respect it. I told him if he needs any advice after 10 years, we can have a discussion again.

Ya everyone is different, temperament and risk tolerance all different... also I think part of the reason why Revhappy is so risk averse is because he is following financial news and his investments too closely, this has a detrimental effect on his mental health and his quality of life, he must have realised he can't stop himself from doing this so he is choosing to not invest to free himself. I actually think he made the right call, money cannot buy happiness or health...

I myself have little trouble sleeping at night because I seldom check the value of my stock funds, I slept like a log even when it was down 6 figures least year. Maybe it has something to do with my fatalistic personality hahaha...

Why no self control? Risk management!

I also think TSLA is gonna recover during market. I got in at 220, should have bought more. I think it will keep surviving until early next year. They need time for model 3 to pick up.

IWDA all time high today, GG for bears.

It is only the US markets that are in this bull run. EIMI is still at 28, the price at which I sold. Europe is about 4% higher. We have a synchronized global slowdown and I have rarely seen in the past where only one market performs while all others are in doledrums. This US market performance is not likely to last.

to be apple to apple, u must have honeymoon, have kids, have attributed ur accomodation fee (buy hsw/rent from landlord/papamama). hence it's not interesting nor strange. it's quite typical for most with families to consider condo upgrading cos many have cars and swimming is number 1 hobby in singapore.c

Not true. Russia-listed stocks outperformed U.S.-listed stocks in the first half of 2019. Stocks listed in mainland China also did quite well in the same period, to pick another example. Eastern European stock markets also generally did very well.

"Only" the U.S. stock markets equates to roughly 60% of realistically investable global stock markets (on a market capitalization basis), by the way. It's kind of like saying that "only" Japan had great sushi sales. ;)

US GDP is only 30% of the world but make up of 60% investable global stock markets?
If global index ETFs are constructed as such with 60% US stocks, I would definitely under-weight them.

Uncle,

Less GDP but more market share means all the major profits are from US.

So why would you want to avoid where the profits are?
