Which indicators are good for gauging volatility?

For individual stock volatility, the implied vol percentile gives you an indication of how volatile the market thinks the stock would be relative to past. That is a good gauge. Do note that vol does not indicate direction of where the stock is going - just how violently it swings up and down.

For the general market, guess it would be the VIX. Though now, most tend to interpret that high vix means sell offs and low vix means trending higher.

That ejaculation by gold is almost unreal. Was expecting a pullback of some sort but oh well...

I have mentioned a break of 5 years ATH is a very bullish sign.

I will just let my gold ride up. A trailing 8% stop loss is in place.

Not that I'm complaining but 5 years took darn long enough.

What is the most efficient way of investing in this gold bull run? I am thinking of getting some....
It depends on your risk appetite. Investing in gold etf gives the lowest returns but it tracks the spot gold price well.
Mike gave the option of xauusd but I'm not sure if it is leveraged.

For me, I buy good gold mining companies.

There is the option of buying into leveraged ETFs such as nugt/jnug but take note that there is decay/contango built into these ETFs which makes it suitable for short term trading, e.g intra day or at most intra week.

Lastly, I don't recommend buying physical metals.

Do you know of any reasonable gold etf?

For mining companies, I once owned GORO and have some knowledge of it.

Not that I'm actively promoting it but since u know goro, then it's good then. They have a new mine in operation since start q2'19 which will double gold production but I think this news is not priced in given the lower than expected eps last quarter. But its quite deceptive because if the gold/metals are not sold, it increases the inventory in the company which moving forward is actually good news with increase in spot price. Been trading it since 2015.

Gld is the most famous gold etf.

XAUUSD is the spot gold in IB. You can buy in 1 ounce.

You can choose to leverage or not.

Personally, I have a margin account but I have not gone negative balance for a long time. Only recently my XAUUSD purchase is 100% on margin.
