I'll advise against getting CK Calvin Klein leather belt. After wearing it for 9 months it is tearing apart, the portion which the leather secures the buckle has visible crack/breakage; this is caused by the thread that stitches on it for fastening. Another problem, the belt is made up of 2 thin leathers glued together to make it thicker, with a lining to cover up this, and the belt is now splitting in between. Bad design and workmanship.

hmm but this should be an easy fix, can just send to those shoe cobblers with a shopfront and they can help you to stitch/glue back those areas. nonetheless for 9 months isnt really durable.

Bally, Dunhill and Mont Blancare so-so for belts, around $300-$400. You could also consider Ferragamo for 400+

But for your budget, ill personally go for Burberry ($325-$625) or Gucci ($300-$500).

But it's best if you could save up just a bit more to $600-$700 and get a Cartier / LV belt

btw Bally, Dunhill and Montblanc, for Dunhill, i like their Carbon Fibre look belts (link). for Bally, they are more symonous with their signature red and white colourways on their belts. Montblanc dun bother coze i think their belts arent worth it, the only thing i would buy from them are their pens.

anyway it all boils down to which industry line ya in and from there can make better decision making.

From what I have seen, flashy belts are rarely seen on front line staff in the Banking sector. I see them more on big bosses (CEO or regional level) or back room staff. Occasionally, you will see the front liner decked out with a Hermes or LV belt but then again, they are also the same people that treat Mont Blanc pens as an accessory and not just a well-made pen.

On a casual level, by all means, rock that belt and show it like it is, but from Mon - Fri 9 - 5, keep it subtle, keep it classy.

i agree wib chiu to a certain extent, you do not really one be seen as too showy and proud to your clients, however if you are in the banking, financial adviser, insurance or property line, customers would also like to be seen and associated with successful well groomed sales pple.

moi ish in the sales line so i do understand how customers in general respond to the front line sales pple's attitudes. yes its true alot of big bankers usually go for very high end belts like the "H" or ellevvee, those citibankers you see at MRT stations are also decked out in them in full force like its part of their uniform too.

to each his own, as long as you can bring in the bacon, doesnt matter what you wear!

IMHO, if you're looking for something subtle, LV isn't the brand to go for...

maybe can try Prada, Tod's, Bally or even Ferragamo. and i think for formal wear, a belt should just look simple in order to have a dressy look when worn.

my personal opinion is mont blanc is more subtle than LV and burberry. i've seen a lot of directors in banks wearing mont blanc belts. no idea why mont blanc belts but that seems a common brand for belts.

you can look at Zegna too.

hmm i have that belt too, but i usually wear it on Fridaes when its dress down day or over the weekends. DG isnt really loud as compared to Damier Ebene or Monogram. i think you wouldnt be short of potential buyers as its quite sought after.

yeah, you're right on the "trademark" Ferragamo belt... but personally, i think Tod's and Prada belts are really subtle. cannot tell the brand at all once it's on the pants.

though i'd love a H-belt.. i can't bear to hoot it... and it isn't subtle at all too lah.

just a general question - you guys prefer a simple buckle/hook type for formal belts or those which look like a piece of "metal plate" and have to poke through the belt hole as the buckle?
