the crude way would be to cover 1 side of ur eye w/lens and focus on the furthest object outside ur window and compare which is less clear, but do the comparison during day time instead of nite to avoid astig complication. alternatively jus go back to the optical shop where u bought this lens n have ur eyes with lens autorefracted by the staff. they shld have ur record anyhow

I'm using B&L toric lenses, how do i know if i've wore my right contacts on my left eye and my left contacts on my right eye? The degree diff is around 50. between left and right

nope u cant do that. as the difference of the lenses are only 0.50 in in power. the difference would not be that great. yea right just go to the optical shop and do just that. or if ur nearing the discard date. just change to a new pair.

I guess it's the eye diameter? On the contact lense box should be labelled as "BC" iirc. But shouldn't everyone's 'BC' be the same?

38, 55 should be the water content.

BC=basecurve ≠ diameter

DIA= diameter

if u say everyone bc is the same is like saying everybody is of equal physical size

water content ≠ moisture, it simply means how much water % to maintain the lens flexibility, the higher it means more water is needed but also means more oxygen is able to diffuse into the lens, higher oxygen permeability. However, ppl with dry eyes or work in aircon area, older ppl (above40) may find it unbearable

avuvue 1day and oasis each offer diff size option, you might like to consult optometrist at 'yes eyewear specialist' @ suntec when u buy your lens and explain to them the problem to have them look into it and maybe you need a diff 'size' for right eye, might be too 'tight' or too 'loose'.

if you play sports, you may want to choose acuvue since it offers UV protection for ALL its series, and depend on your frequency you may opt between dailies and bi-weekly(fornight). In addition, it has diff size which offer a much more comfortable fitting than other brand of disposable

:s13: I was referring that the BC for one person's eyes instead of the entire population. Thanks for the clarification..

Not neccessarily true. New age silicone hydrogel lenses have lower water content but yet allow higher oxygen transmissibility.
There are many theories to lens dryness. one of them is High WATER content lenses tend to have moisture evaporating more thus the wearer would feel more dryness. thus in LOW WATER content lenses, the evaporation of moisture is less thus wearer would feel less dryness. However it depends largely on the wearer itself.

ya thats only true for hydrogel lens like oasis, day n night, O2 optix etc but for 55/38 they are just regular hydrogel lens which is very much influenced by the environment, wearer tear duct activeness and the fitting
