what firmware you tried on? your GPS got compass?

tried on betaflight, my flight board default has barometer and altitude hold kinda of works but it drifts slightly while maintaining altitude.

took 5 minutes to get 6 satellites. hover at 15 meters away while initiating gps hold.
gps hold should lock it in place while altitude hold kicks in, but yet my drone flys left and right in erratic manner and crash right into mud.

no magnometer but it should not be the reason why it couldn't hold position base on gps coordinates.
youtube has many people running gps module which can altitude hold, gps hold and rth, well it doesn't land but it flies back to home point and hovers there, which is good enough imo.

If i read correctly, this will apply if your drone weighs more than 1.5kg? Anyone can comment? But actually as long as u want to fly outdoors or anywhere where got people, maybe good to take some online course, just like road safety park. Maybe can have a sky safety park somewhere :)

hmm, can you help go through the online course once, and tell us what's inside?
any practical flight test? don't know if my lousy flight skill can pass test.. :D

i thought they removed GPS on cleanflight/betaflight due to shortage of code space? I could not even turn on GPS with cleanflight. The firmware force it to always off.

You need magnetometer or compass to tell direction. GPS tells current position only, GPS does not tell direction. The drone itself needs to know it's own direction so that drone can manoeuvre itself and correct the GPS position errors. Without compass it only know GPS position errors but cannot correct or do position hold. Some GPS modules come with compass, need get those GPS module.

I'm on F3-deluxe and iNav. GPS position hold works on iNav. But positioning locking is only as good as a hubsan. I'm having difficulties to tune the PID to make it as good as a DJI. iNav should have RTH working also but I never use RTH.

betaflight/cleanflight lock GPS function is only applicable to F3 boards. im running Kakute F4 AIO V2 on betaflight 3.2 or 3.3(cant remember) which has enough processing power to enable it.

I am still thinking of getting a bn880 which comes with compass/gps which cost like 18dollars from taobao.. but from the advises. seems like running INAV with cleanflight for GPS drones are better as they are more accurate or more functionality. while betaflight is more for better flight performance, agility etc..

anyway its not a must have for me since I mainly just do some freestyle and hardly go beyond 200 metres.
but if it can RTH I would be able to explorer further out than my usual area and not worry about losing the drone for good. I ever had to walk out 500 metres to recover my drone which is a pain

Never try yet... Will go explore later and see what it is.

Am thinking of using sparky for research :)

i intend to get a spark, so whenever i go overseas for holiday or work, i can grab some beautiful scenary shots. however there are a few concern i have:

1) without using handphone or remote control, what is the range spark can fly to?

2) with handphone(andriod) only, what is the range it can cover?

3) i understand using the RC, the distance covered can be up to <3km. i thinking if i should get the fly more combo, mainly because of the extra batt with charging hub and if future i need to use a RC, it will still be cheaper compared with buying each item individuality.

Hope bros here can clarify on the above issue. First drone here. Thanks!:s12:

HI friend.... Me still trying out spark (3wks liao). Videos and pics are very good. I cannot advise on the no phone and controller part yet (I have yet to try the hands controlling thing) but I think it's most worth it to buy the combo version. Not sure what's the price now though... It was as low as 600 on lazada during their celebrations and plus some other specials

There is also the issue of the battery... Think u have to purchase some special antistatic bag to hold the batteries.

What’s wrong with the battery?!?!

I only know temperature must be cool then can charge.

Normally 2 batteries should be enough for u guys or need more?

Earlier took my spark and its batteries to charge and realised that the craft and the battery were warm to touch.

My spark and 3 batteries (1 was attached, the other 2 were in the slot) were kept in the original foam box in my cupboard for the past 1 week. The craft was confirmed to be off when I removed it from the foam box.

Don't think the recent warm weather cause it since the storage was away from direct sunlight in my room. If it is, then will have to store it in air con room

Will take some flights later and hopefully, nothing is wrong.

Hi,

Anybody interested in flying drones at west coast park this Saturday morning? Can please PM me? Sorry, I cannot PM+Invite each and everyone here.

Note that I do not know if NPB has a "no-fly" sign at West Coast park. Neither I can ensure your drone will not drop into the sea or crash into pieces there. And also there is not much view at West Coast Park except some dirty shipyard there. And let's hope no rain on Saturday morning. :D

Basically other than city and garden by the bay, i don't think there are much view in Singapore.

I have tried Pandan loop the reservoir that side, Tuas, Sentosa and Marina Barrage.

I personally like Tuas, less interference and can go really far out to..........

When I was there 2 weeks ago, there wasn't a "NFZ" signage, so I assume I can fly.

However, I was advised by a patrol that despite there was no signage against flying, I shouldn't aim my camera towards the shipyard/pier areas.
