oops!, sorry, i thought you were trying to decide if to get a used mavic pro or a new mavic mini. now then i know you already have a mavic mini, having some problem, and thinking of getting another used mavic pro.

i never flew a mavic pro or mavic mini before. i only have spark and mavic2 zoom. some differences that i faced between them as:
1) ocusync: inside s'pore, reliable range for spark/wifi is only about 150m, for mavic2/ocusync2 is 600m. spark/wifi could give you some sudden 1second freeze of fpv video feed while you are filming. mavic pro's ocusync is more stable than mavic mini's wifi.
2) thrust: higher thrust making the mavic2 more responsive and easier for filming. Should be same for mavic pro.
3) yaw movement: at east coast park with strong wind, need heavy drone for smoother drone yaw movement, the heavier the better. using yaw on the gimbal is not a good option.
4) 4K: both spark and mavic2 giving me excellent 1080p video. so i never record video in 4K even flying that mavic2 for a year.
5) quick shot: mavic2 turns on obstacle sensors for all directions and fully protected. while spark, mavic mini and mini pro could crash into trees if not careful.
6) low altitude: you cannot fly those 8" big mavic at low altitude, in between trees. Spark with solid propeller guards is a much better option.
7) active track: mavic mini got no active track. i never try active tracking on mavic2 as i do not think it is smart enough. need a skydio2 for good active tracking.
8) palm launch: certain locations might have too much metal around and you cannot launch a big mavic. spark on palm launch is ok.

mavic pro should solve your problem for longer range, reliable video feed, easier drone manoeuvre, and giving you 4K video (note: there is no raw 4K video, only raw photo). frequent flier may need 2 drones with different functions. i flew my spark more often than my mavic2. my drone kaki is flying a mavic pro bought from carousell, so far no problems.

after saw someone's post here, i bought the new mavic mini flymore from courts at S$549 during black friday. And so, that used mavic pro is only worth S$450 to me. for most people, mavic pro not very more capable drone than a mavic mini. :D

most attractive things about mavic mini is the pricing, and the 250g. at S$549 price is same price as a Hubsan H117S with 3 batteries and much cheaper than fimi x8, except only 2.7K video. <250g weight might give less problems when flying drone during oversea tours, plus easier to bring batteries into aircraft. mavic mini is value for money but not every drone capability as matching as the bigger mavic. note that other countries might need drone flying license for >250g (so far we only have drone registration).

Thank you for your feedback. You are right about the quickshot, my drone almost crashed into a tree, fortunately only a few leafs were harmed.

is yours delivered?

est delivery date given by courts is 03 jan 2020. i passed my spark to my uncle and might need a mavic mini. main concern about mavic mini is the plastic could be fragile with that 250g light weight.

if you can wait, may be could get a used mavic2 pro at <s$1k when mavic3 announced in future? i guess now people avoiding mavic pro and go for mavic2, either new or used. is like handphone, people prefer latest tech. some might keep upgrading drone to latest best camera. :D

Ya, I'll wait it out :) need to stay strong and abstain for a few months haha. I saw used Mav 2 dropping to 1.2k, so when Mav 3 comes out, hopefully the price reduces more. I've just started playing the Mini, need more time to test it out too.

The weather's been crappy lately, want to head to East Coast Park or some beach area to do more flights.

First crash! Now both forward vision sensor.

you mean you have your mavic air crashed and forward sensor damaged?

can your mavic air still operating properly without the forward sensor?
if still operating properly, stable and safe enough, such that will not cause any injury to yourself or other people, then just shut off the obstacle sensors and fly it like a mavic mini lor. obstacle sensors are not that useful unless it is a mavic2 or skydio.

Question for Mavic Mini owners, do you guys use Android or Apple phone to fly the drone?

I noticed the transmission is different when you use Apple vs. Android phone.

iPhone 7 - it uses 2.4 ghz and Samsung Note 9 - it uses 5.8 ghz. Both phone have the latest DJI app and default drone firmware.

In terms of performance, the Note 9 (5.8 ghz) got a increase of height from 40m to 60m and distance from 150m to 270m compared to iPhone (2.4 ghz).

I heard some people said the signal switch back to 2.5 ghz, but I didn't check to confirm. Next time, I will take a screenshot of the before and after.

omg! just checked the spec, the mavic mini i bought from courts (model: MT1SD25) i think likely going to have 100m reliable range only.
I have not received my Mavic Mini from courts yet.

Mavic Mini model: MT1SD25 transmission power
14dBm or 25mW for 5.8G
19dBm or 75mW for 2.4G

Mavic Mini model: MT1SS5 transmission power
30dBm or 1000mW for 5.8G

Spark's transmission power
27dBm or 500mW for 5.8G
25dBm or 250mW for 2.4G

for Spark (in FCC mode), i'm having reliable range of 200m inside parks. Or at least 400-500m if out the sea.
i think only the mavic mini model: MT1SS5 could have reliable range of 300m inside parks here.

For mavic mini model: MT1SS5 (FCC Model), still need a bit of hacking to get full transmission power here in S'pore (30dBm/1000mW 5.8G). DJI Fly app will lower the transmission power when flying in S'pore.

Until now, I still do not have any idea if Mavic Mini model: MT1SD25 (CE Model) 2.4GHz max transmission power (19dBm/75mW) is limited by DJI Fly app or the Wifi hardware inside. This one should be the model sold here.

I will perform some quick test to check the range after I received my Mavic Mini. I need about 200m reliable range in parks (that should be about 600+m flying out to the sea)

AFAIK still limited by hardware.... checkout the post by Rambo6 @ Dji Forum

Somethings went wrong with compass, I think. Kept drifting in hover.
Anyway, cannot calibrate vision sensor now as I need a computer with DJI assistant software but did not bring laptop with me. Drone can start but dare not try flying in case crash and hit others.
Was near power cable so not sure that affected the compass?

need to calibrate your front/back obstacle sensors and downward position sensors. All can be done with DJI Assistant software on desktop computer at indoor (No need to be outdoor). After that try hover at 0.5m altitude indoor (no GPS) to make sure your vision positioning is working.

Compass needs to be calibrated at outdoor.

Likely your Mavic Air is OK. Crashed but no broken electronics :D

Mavic Mini model: MT1SS5 FCC version at 30dBm/1000mW transmission power is impressive, close to Mavic2 Zoom's range, and better than Mavic Air or Spark. This is not the version sold here.

I do not know if i go open out my mavic mini, and change the wifi module to the 30dBm part, then if the range will be like mavic2? i have not received my mavic mni yet. may be can wait for some wifi module hacks on youtube. :s8:

Doubt wifi module can be hacked, which tightly integrated (5:10 / 3:10 mins) into the mainboard...

i watched the whole video

wow! cannot change wifi module! :(
wow! so much easier to dismantle than a spark, simpler inside. it took me so much job to get my spark gimbal replaced myself. but this mavic mini like very fragile, where as spark's plastic is solid

can help me to verify this? from youtube videos, it seems like:

1) for Mavic Mini CE version, flying at CE (or s'pore) regions
- DJI fly will power 2.4GHz Wifi at 19dBm/75mW, or
- DJI fly will power 5.8GHz Wifi at 14dBm/25mW (That's like drone will RTH at 50m in parks)

2) for Mavic Mini CE version, flying at FCC regions
- DJI fly will power 2.4GHz Wifi at 19dBm/75mW, or
- DJI fly will power 5.8GHz Wifi at 19dBm/75mW

3) for Mavic Mini FCC version, flying at CE (or s'pore) regions
- DJI fly will power 5.8GHz Wifi at 19dBm/75mW (**important!)

4) for Mavic Mini FCC version, flying at FCC regions
- DJI fly will power 5.8GHz Wifi at 30dBm/1000mW

if the above 4 points are true, may be I should sell away my Mavic Mini CE as BNIB, try get another new or used FCC version? then wait for someone hacking DJI Fly, what you think? :D

i need 200m range flying in parks, 100m is very jialat!

Basically, Here's my understanding :

1&2) Mavic Mini CE version would maintain same power regardless of CE or FCC regions.

3&4) Mavic Mini FCC version would operate a max power at FCC region and reduced power at CE region. But CE region still hackable via Fake GPS apps according to your posted video :D
