Yes im flying quadcopter. Currently has a syma x56w got it for like 50 bucks. With altitude hold n headless mode. The wifi fpv is too lag to see properly. And the distance is too short. I flew it up like 6 storey and i lose connection. Luckily it juz hover there and slowly decend as battery runs low. Intend to get eachine tx03 with eachine 800d vr google in future and mod it to bugs 3. Still thinking if i should get a rc controller. Teck whye near my place too maybe we can meet up one day

cannot save money on drone one . Want play must buy dji models

Wow really thanks for your insights. You really put in a lot of effort in your replies.

Anyway, just an update. I’ve placed order for my Mavic Pro! Just waiting for me to make a trip down to self-collect it. Let’s share pointers after I get my hands on it :s12:

I think the target audience is different. If you like aerial photography dji is definetly the way to go. Even so dji cant do this..

Anyway i juz wan to fly around like a mosquito. Dun wan to risk crashing a 1k drone into a tree... LOL

Hi,

remote control distance: your current remote control distance is too short. I'm using FS-I6 remote control set and very reliable for 300-400ft without problem (product spec is ~1500ft). But note that only buy rc controllers if you are having diy drones or racing drones. you cannot bind any rc controller to bug 3.

bugs 3?: are you talking about mjx bugs 3? bugs 3 is brushless and will have enough power handling the windy outdoor condition. Your syma x56w is likely unable to handle the outdoor wind.

hubsan h501s: you might want to spend S$100 more and get a hubsan h501s instead. It comes with FPV LCD and GPS (but H501s got no GPS auto-pilot apps, only H501A has GPS auto-pilot apps)

flipping: in previous email, sound like you intend to perform all the flipping stunts? bugs 3 or hubsan h501 might have problem in flipping as the thrust to weight ratio could be <2. bugs 3/h501s will only be able to perform those stunts at high altitude. Only the racing drones could perform all the different type of stunts at low altitude. dji drones are video drones and have very low center of gravity, will never flip (may be dji mavic can).

crashing: i'm flying diy-drones with carbon fiber frames. cost me about S$150 to build each set. so far keep on crashed and crashed but not yet got any carbon fiber frames damaged.

I do not know have the skill to perform flipping under CleanFlight. Haha,... Actually I cannot even fly the quadcopter properly. I normally fly without yaw, only fly with pitch and roll. And i dare not fly any quadcopter with propellers bigger than 5" (bugs 3 and h501s are 7-8").... =:p

i already placed an order for DJI Spark, have not arrived yet. :s8:
i dare not fly a mavic, too big and too expensive to crash it.

let us know how is that mavic after you had played with it... ;)

Hi,

For rc controller. I chance upon this i thought it can bind to most protocol including toy grade drones too. See video link https://youtu.be/ksEbk53NQPQ
But i am still considering since im not at the stage to build my own drones.

Yes mjx bugs 3. i havnt dare to fly it yet until i get more comfortable with flying lighter drones. im still trying to get the hang of flying.I Hardly use any yaw too and when i do i usually lose orientation.

For flipping, rolling and the stunts. I do want to perform them eventually but i know i am not ready now and do not have the proper diy drones for it. Bugs 3 is mainly for me to learn to handle speedy drones.

D. I. Y drones imo are the best but unfortunately i dont have steady hands to make all the precise soldering.

Hi,

remote control:
haha, I did not know someone came out with multi-protocol transmitter, thanks!. May be i will get 1 set in future. I believe all the remote control makers should be sueing this company for copy rights soon.

pre-assembled diy-drones:
hobbyking.com has some clearing stock Orca TF280C/SMACK TF250C now at US$90-100 (ARF without battery & RC), and Walkera Rodeo 110/150 at US$140-150 RTF. Better wait for 11 Nov sales and look for some pre-assembled diy-drones at great discount from gearbest/banggood/hobbyking, before buying your bug 3.

self-assembled diy-drones:
the best solution is still self-assembled diy-drones. 1) easily repairing 2) can always get the parts 3) tougher carbon fiber body 4) much cheaper batteries 5) easy enhancements or modifications 6) you know exactly it's capabilities and limits, so lesser risks of injuring someone.

teach me that fpv flying after you become an expert in it !!... ;)

Hi all, i just started this not too long. I have play flight simulators before so i roughly understand the basic of flight controls. I will probably be better if i fly fpv... But as i fly line of sight with cheapo drones.. I keep losing orientation after turning and i have to stop. Get my heading and start flying again.. Which i see most people fly quite smoothly. Turning and flipping to and fro. Yawing sometimes make me activate my throttle too. Sometimes reducing too much altitude and almost crashing or punching out to high into the air. Is there any good practice for line of sight flying? I fly near cck alone but the area is not suitable because of trees and mosquito lol

buy a lizard95 and fly. :D

Mind sharing where did you buy it from? Did you get the Fly More combo? I did consider Spark. However, I suppose you need the controller to have a better flight experience and with the Fly More combo, it's approximately $200 cheaper than Mavic Pro and $500 cheaper than Mavic Pro Fly More. Therefore, I think its more worth it to top up that $200-$500 for more flight time and better camera.

However, different drones for different needs I guess. Spark is way smaller and easier to bring around. :s12:

haha, good question, and also hard to describe to you, since you jump into mavic immediately as beginner....

i never like big quadcopters ( e.g. dji mavic/phantom) that might cause injuring to other people. dji mavic/phantom had never been my consideration. if i go buy any dji mavic/phantom, i'm very sure it will be ended hanging on my apartment's wall, as decoration.

i'm already having these quadcopters hanging on my wall now:
a) XK-X300 S$170, flew it for 5min ok. During 2nd auto-takeoff it gone haywire and flying sideways until it hit something and cracked. I had extracted camera, fpv lcd and used them on my diy drones.
b) Aosenma S$140, this drone is real crap. Received as non-working set from banggood. banggood forced me to create a video on youtube showing them how it was not working. After video done banggood still refused to do anything. So i got to open out that crap quadcopter myself and repaired it. And after seeing the messy poor wiring inside, i do not want to fly that quadcopter in avoiding it suddenly fall from sky and hit someone. It is working but always hanging there.
c) Hubsan H502S S$180. flew once only. i like this one and one fine day i will fly it again.
d) JJRC H32GH S$120. Flew few times, but neither good for indoor or outdoor.
e) JJRC H32WH S$70. Same as H32GH but the wifi video version. One fine day I will modify this two H32GH/H32WH and transfer them to other frame kits suitable for indoor flying.
f) Hubsan H507A S$130. at teckwhye football field it said "poor gps reception" and refused to fly. had not tried another location.

after 2 months in quadcopters i was already tired with ready built toy drones. I found them crappy and so i switched over to diy drones. now every time when i think of flying a drone i usually just grab a 180mm or 210mm diy-drone and fly it, leaving the toy-drones always hanging on wall.

dji mavic/phantom will have difficulties to find a suitable space to fly them, their propellers are more larger and dangerous, heavier weight of 0.7-1.4kg. If I fly a <S$200 diy-drone above water and it drops into drainage, I will not retrieve it. Same as if confiscated by authority or crashed/lost, it will cost me <S$200 and not >S$1K. At <200ft there is also not much aerial photo/video to take, so no need a dji. And diy-drone is like fighter jet, dji is like bomber. Flying the dji might not give you the fun and player have to take good care of it due to expensive. There are other problems and mostly due to S'pore island's limitations. whatever you watch on youtube, you might not get it under s'pore environment. :s22:

back to dji spark now...
bought the dji spark fly more combo at S$899 from challenger/hachi. Have not received it yet after 1 week. I'm hoping...
a) that DJI spark comes as a 100% working set, and I do not have to open and repair it.
b) it will be fun flying, and not ended as another piece hanging on my wall :(

I need the manual remote control transmitter/joystick for dji spark. I cycle around and use my diy-drones to shoot aerial photos at 30-50ft. expecting dji spark should be able to take photos and even videos also, and fitting nicely inside my backpack. Spark's gesture control is not that important to me.

have fun with your mavic ! and hope my spark ended as a useful piece.

i think you can get the transmitter on lazada under 100

i want to practice more until i get more used to flying, i got those small mini drones like to practice at home after work. no altitude hold so its a pain to keep the throttle in check all the time, on top of trying to pitch, roll and yaw lol.
now i know why air force pilots must be able to multi-task lol

like yourself im abit reluctant to fly the heavier drone. my bug3 with action camera weights about 1kg.i haven't even flew once actually. I just powered it up and hover it in my room for 2 minutes and land it. the sound of the spinning props is so loud that it scares me honestly.. and after that i just think i need to practice more till i reach a stage where i am confident i can handle it.
the diy drones is really attractive, but i have no transmitter yet so I can't really considered them.

3M Wall hook,... picture hangers & self adhesive type.
if spark is no fun flying it might becomes wall decoration there, but i have not reserve a hook for it... :s13:

My aosenma CG035 is 0.4kg with battery, and 0.5kg with an Eken H9 sports camera added. Your bugs 3 should be around this weight and cannot be 1kg, unless something went wrong. Anyway the 4pcs 1805 motors of bugs 3 cannot handle 1kg. For 1kg lift-off weight 2212 motors are needed as in Phantom 3/4.

wow nice! what kind of string you are using to hold the weight? I have one that is quite heavy.

Just some tiny wire, I hang them there because lack of storage space in apartment.
Remember to remove battery, less weight and or else battery could catch fire when dropped
Make use of your own creativity and immagination in making them look nicer,
Haha, how many of your dji drones will be hanging at your wall? :D

hey, could you help go start a new dji spark thread? and teach us how to fly a dji spark properly, plus skills in taking photos/videos, operating the auto-pilot modes etc... :s8:

Today i did my maiden flight with my bugs 3. Damn the pitch roll rate is nothing i experienced before. And im still in beginner rate. I believe it can goes fast enuff to do a manual front flip. But i dare not go full pitch/roll as i worry i may lose control. Many times i panicked and quickly regain control before it crashed...despite that i still crash twice luckily i was flying low and not too fast.
Ended doing simple practice of take off hover. Move forward backward sideway land. Tried a 5 seconds punch out it zoom up so fast and become a small dot in the sky and i took like over 3 minutes to bring it safely back to ground because i afraid it will drop too fast if i cut the throttle too fast. Im in love with this drone. Fpv cam + gimbal mod here i come! :p
