Is it phone or network problem? Every now and then, I could not connect to internet on 4G. I need to toggle the airplane to reset the connection again, and then no problem. This This issue is especially prominent when I leave a WIFI zone and reconnect to mobile network.
What can be done to improve the situation?

You must be a Android user. No that is not a sign of drain and that is what you want, Application to be optimised for battery usage. It just means the system is allowed to control the usage of the application so it can turn them off when you are not using.

Is your auto rotation enabled?

For that should be helping you to save batt. To prevent those optimized apps from running in the background. But always sleeping apps might not receive notification.

Another thing, is the place you usually at, have bad connections to your network? If it does, it might affect as well.

I dont met with any problems with auto rotate. If your phone have so many problems, try factory reset it.

decided to send it for servicing and it took an hour. battery and mainboard changed. now everything works like it should. customer service experience was good of course. thanks you guys for advices :)

I dropped my N8 face down, luckily has glass SP but cracked. Then front camera cannot worked. So bring in to Samsung repair Che Westgate. They replaced the front camera but had to remove SP. No charges since under warranty. They did it in 2 hours.. : l

Btw, after upgrading to Nougat, both mine and my wife N8 have issues with Wi-Fi, intermittently the Wi-Fi will say cannot work and I have to switch to another SSID at home. It's been going on for a while.

Are you also using a Singtel router?

Went down to the service center today at plaza sing as my phone wifi got really bad like couldn't stay connected for more than a min also, they did a refresh of oreo update and just reinstalled it. Now seems to be working fine so far no exclamation mark. They said its a singtel wifi router problem and that singtel will be sending out a compatibility update to their routers sometimes next week and they advised not to come back until next week even if im having problem. They said if even after singtel updates their routers i still face the issue, they will replace motherboard. They assured me all motherboards are new and arent from previous phones that had issue that they fix and re-use. They gave me a free beanbag phone stand and apologised for the inconvenience. Overall the service is damn good no matter how frustrating is the situation they manage to handle it. One thing i noticed though, after they did a refresh software update the phone functions a tad bit differently like look and feel theme wise and also the earphone quality seems to be louder. Maybe its just me... idk... i feel so.

Have you try with other brands of routers? Sorry as I did not follow your threads. My set is updated with Oreo and no issue with my Asus Router. No issue with Wireless SGx too. Do you have any settings defined on the router that block internet access for the given ip addr / mac addr?

If you don't have another router to test, try using hot spot from another phone and connect with your Note 8. See if that works? If that is working fine, means it is your router issue.

Hi vickymelwani,

We checked with Samsung based on your experience and want to clarify on this matter:

We believe there is a miscommunication.

The instruction provided to their (Samsung) service centres is there will be a software patch available soon for Samsung's flagship models (Galaxy S9/S9+, S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note8).

The software patch is to resolve the intermittent WiFi issues on their Singtel routers.

Hope this clarifies the matter.

The way to find out what the new update is for is to go to your phone's setting>About Phone>software information>android security patch level, open page with browser, in the page click on samsung and see the updates releasing. Nothing to do with a wifi fix. Guided by samsung hotline guy.

Yes there is a wifi stability patch releasing as said by samsung but they dont know when and have clearly said that it is solely due to your routers not being compatible with the phone and the update from their side may not fix it until your update next week.

The samsung service center girl confirmed its a software issue not a hardware and even a motherboard replacement may not fix it though from samsung side that is all they can do as its solely a software issue. I dont know who is to blame, oreo by android, singtel routers or samsung's phone but it would be nice if yall could work together and get this issue resolved and since you're an official singtel representative that has a professional communication with samsung why dont you direct them to this forum and get them to assure us and sort things out?

People in Singapore and worldwide are facing problems with their s8 series to note 8 to s9 series.
Some blaming their subscriber some blaming samsung and singapore is no different yall are passing the ball from your end to their end and they are passing it back to yall.

Get all your clarifications by them with some proof like get them to admit here or something if not its just your clarification against theirs and a ton load of confusion.

My neighbour was kind enough to let me use her my republic wifi on a Xiaomi router her dad had installed, no wifi drops so far. Honestly i really don't know who is at fault. My advice to all is if the issue really persist lead samsung to this forums and all and get a new phone from your subscriber or samsung or something. If you dont want the hassle, sell it and get another brand phone oppo or Huawei or something. This is too much nonsense and its like the same issue last time where LG had a bootloop problem and didnt want to publicly admit it until a petition came about and stuff. Prolly samsung needs something like that on them or maybe they gave a patch so advance that our routers need an update. -.-

I thought I have already posted many times whats going on, specifically quoted your post before and explained to you. Seems like you didn't bother to read.

The wifi fix is already out on firmware versions RE5, RE7 and are already progressively being released. First to receive update are european countries and it was released on 27th May. On 29th May, the server was updated to have rolled out the new fix to some parts of US. I am guessing, this update will come in June 2018 and will be across S8, S9 and note 8 models.

Of cos, you can have doubts in my information that I shared, and you're free to decide whether or not to believe, up to you.

You might want to read this link again: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showpost.php?p=114318507

Hi bobaccord,

As mentioned in one of our earlier posts, Samsung's Android devices which are recently updated to Android 8.0 Oreo are having some issues with Wi-Fi connectivity.

We've worked closely with Samsung to fix the issue. Samsung will issue a software patch soon for affected handsets.

In the meantime, please turn off and on WiFi on your Samsung device to solve the issue.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yes I am.

Hi vickymelwani,

In case you missed our earlier post on 10 May, we were aware of the numerous feedback by our customers on the intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity issues and had worked closely with Samsung to fix the issue.

When we saw your post yesterday, we immediately reached out to Samsung for clarification and understanding on the matter. Based on Samsung's reply, we understand that the following statements in your post are incorrect:

(1) "They said its a singtel wifi router problem."
(2) "that singtel will be sending out a compatibility update to their routers sometimes next week"

Therefore, there is a need for us to step in to clarify the matter to avoid further misunderstanding.

Samsung will be issuing the software patch to resolve the intermittent Wi-Fi issues. We do not have information on when the software patch will be made available.

Nonetheless, we want to assure customers that we take every feedback seriously. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your understanding on this matter.

:vijayadmin: Singtel user here,

Recently got a Samsung Note 8 from singtel and S8+ open brand new from box and both update to the latest ver 8.0 Oreo.
My home router is from singtel too (AC Elite)

No problem with S8+ BUT,

My Note 8 facing WIFI dropping, cannot load, exclamation mark appears next to the wifi sign repeatly.

ALL THIS STEPS does not resolve the problem
-reset network setting
-clear cache partition
-factory reset phone.

After factory reset, problem still occurred constantly every 20/30mins, it's so frustrating. Called Samsung hotline to check, the support guy just ask me to do the above steps which I’d already did, and ask me to send it down to service centre.

Please HELP…… end up I re-contracted a useless phone which I cannot use WIFI at home…

Either switch to another router or wait for new firmware update which fixes the issue. Nothing much you can do now

Already know the issue 1 month ago, now haven fix. WiFi is like a basic feature everyone uses daily. Wonder who is the inefficient one, Samsung or Singtel
