^^^Glad it arrived safely :)
Hope you like it, ronaldlsh.

^@archbishopchia, of cos the local produce equally good leather goods and the most advantages of all, free shipping in Singapore! Furthermore, you can get us easily.

I'm not trying to advertise here, but since you are interested, check out my sig for blog and website for leather goods.
I'm always happy to see more of us getting interested into leathers :)

Ah...your sperrys,
yes, you can apply mink oil on them if you want. Mink oil is universal for all leather goods, EXCEPT for nubuck and suede. But come to think about it, there is no harm on 'hairy' leathers too, just turn darker and may not lighten back to original colour.
Try not to use silicon or petroleum based conditioners, read the ingredients before use.
On personal note, I'd rather not use any conditioners on sperrys at all, esp your oatmeal. IMO, they look awesome in 'battered' and 'seasoned'. That's just me :)

need a little feedback from the leather artisans on the thread :(.

Surface looked a little dirty this evening, i was about to use a wet cloth to wipe it until i spotted some unused rubbing alochol swibes on my table. Hands got itchy and had no idea what came over me, but i rubbed some on my wallet, stupidly assuming that it would evaporate. It didn't and it seemed the leather absorbed it and got a little darker, accentuating all the leather's flaws and wrinkles. Somehow i liked the outcome, since i've always wanted it to turn darker, but is this detrimental to the longevity of the leather?

btw, this is how it looked when i got it, about 5-6 months back now

I'm afraid alcohol will have some bad effects on the leather :(
They will 'bite' into the leather peel off the top layer, which is the top grain of the leather, creating rough surfaces.
Top grain, as the name suggest, is the uppermost layer of the skin of the cow. It is where all the natural grains and 'patterns' are, and professionally processed at the tanneries.
In summary, you will create 'unnatural' distress if you use alcohol to rub on the surface. The hard your rub, the more it will peel.
Just oil it again and continue wearing it, it will still develop to your own 'character'.

^Ah...I'm trying it myself on the same scrap leather as your wallet. It really doesn't cause much effect on the surface with a gentle wipe, however, you can feel the leather becomes rougher and darker.

I'm assuming 'refined' means clean and smooth? To achieve that, oiling plays an important as it will create a surface layer protecting the leather from stains and water.
For any leathers (not including nubuck and suede), only constant using will create smooth surface. There is no faster way.

It depends on where you hook the pouch. If you hook it at the side of your waist, there will definitely be some obstruction when you're sitting down.
intending to hook near the front jeans pocket that area...

also, can Lipsu and friends show some pic of this pouch internal? wondering if its too small to put things... thanks!

Hi leather gurus!

I recently bought a pair of leather shoes and was hoping to find out the best ways to maintain it.

Could someone recommend me some good mink oil brands? :D
