Continuation of WX2 Military leather goods, this week we release the Naval wallet.

The idea came about when we first handled our supplies of these Blue Cavalier Chromexcel Leathers (Horween). What we saw was a wavy ‘sea of blue leathers’ when stacking the hides on the shelf. All it took was someone to cry out, we should do something for the Navy. And that is how it all started.

Made a passport holder recently. Same leather (I need to buy more colors, getting bored hahaha), this time stitched 5 SPI with Ritza waxed polyester.

I made some slips with the grooving tool, have to be more careful with that next time. Also did not burnish the inner edges of the pockets. :p This time round I tried smoothing down the fleshy side with saddle soap, seems to work alright.

Nice work! Don't worry, the fleshy side would be much smoother through time and usage! What colours are you looking for? I might have some to sell.

Hey Toby, I'm probably keen to get some black and dark brown leathers. :) I was actually planning to ask you whether you still have any edge sealant/finishing left. I'm in KL this weekend, so I might drop you a message next week when I'm back. :D

As for the edge finishing, I have to check again if I still have more. Alternatively, you can still refer to page 172, post #2579 (I believe I still have some left for sale)
Just let me know. Thanks!

i was using this 4yrs ago, some small tips, it tends to over do your edge and left burn or scald marks. Applicator is essential, avoid too watery Solutions.

Nice. Some tips, avoid using strong Or darker color thread on light colored Leather, because its hand stitch, so Minor crook, or not aligned stitch can be visible.

Yeah I noticed this, but I like the contrast too haha. Guess I'll just need to practice being more consistent on stitching. :)

or you can create a deeper groove, so that the stitch can sit inside both walls forming straighter lines.

Enjoy leather crafting.

Details are here Wallet for the Flyboys | Obbi Good la Vie

Or check here on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/obbigoodlabel?sk=notes

The design of this wallet is inspired by Mr. -Five-’s original design which we were commissioned to produce in 2010. The full story coverage can be found recorded in his blog entry, showing his sketch design to the details of material used on his wallet.
p5060659.jpg

3 years later, we reproduce this design and place it in a prestige category in Obbi Good Label’s design altar. One of the 3 pieces for WX2 Military, this is the AF1 Wallet.

p5060672.jpg

The double stitching lines across the wallet are machine-sew with walking foot trails in between the lines, imprinting onto the lambskin contrasting the grain pattern.

Daiso sells the punch. Some leather supplies company sells the tools, but mainly machines, yarn and glue.

I buy from HK, China, Taiwan and the US of A.

Thanks! I'm heading to Daiso this evening to check it out.
Any local leather supply companies to recommend?
