With the increase in people buying nerf blasters, i've been getting queries about how to fix blasters that are faulty right out of the box.
As with all products, there is always a chance you might get a "lemon".
The best solution is to test your blasters for a few days before throwing out the box, wrappings and receipts, at least you can "re-pack" it and return if its faulty. Shops will only accept returns or exchanges if products are still in the box with wires and wrappings intact.
For Iron Man Blasters in particular, you guys have to really watch out for the odd units with air leak faults, especially those of you who bought lots of extra boxes hoping to keep some as gifts or to sell to others. You wouldn't want to give or sell it to someone else a few weeks later and then they discover its faulty.
Iron Man Blasters are zip-tied to the boxes, so the best way to test them without cutting the ties is to just open the side of the box and pump the blaster 10-15 times, put your ear close to the casing and listen a while for any signs of a constant tiny hissing sound (this is different from the brief over-pressure valve release sound when you pump it 20+ times).
If you don't hear the sound, then its okay. Remember to press the trigger to fire off the remaining stored compressed air before keeping it (since its without the clip, just use any object to press the safety catch to release the trigger).
If you
do hear a constant tiny hissing sound even when the blaster is idle, immediately pack it back and return or exchange it, that is an air leak fault that is
very difficult to trace and fix!
My friend bought 5 boxes and tested all of them the above way, 1 of the blasters had this air leak fault so he went back to Carrefour with the box intact and exchanged it for another one.
Now... i got a feeling the carrefour staff just simply put that faulty one back on the display, and there might be a few amongst the stack that are "returns" too, so do test all your Iron Man Blasters first to avoid disappointment.
