I've been trying to figure out the cost of going contract-less, but Starhub's website don't seem to have that info readily :S
Same. Having trouble comparing all 3 telco. But i know Singtel's contractless plan is just dumb. The cost of the plan is the same as those on 2 years contract, you just have more outgoing minutes. Probably trying to push people towards contracts since can get subsidies on phone purchase.
Which is what I think makes no sense. The monthly fees are inclusive of the phone price, it's like we're paying installment for the phone. But if after 2 years you don't renew contract, you still pay the same amount. Which means you're still paying for the phone that you've already paid in full for by the end of 2 years. Every months afterwards you're just giving telco free money.
Some carrier overseas are starting to separate the monthly charges, like how much monthly is for the service, and how much is for the phone subsidy. So after 2 years if you don't wish to recontract, you just continue to pay for the service, not the phone.
This is something I don't see local telco doing unless there is legislation passed that demands that. This is a good tactic to keep locking people in contracts, and that pisses me off. lol.
