I'm actually using this app called Auto Screen On. Double tap on proximity sensor io wake screen. So far so good. Option to use g-sensor also, meaning if you lift up your phone from horizontal position will auto on screen.
Battery wise so far also so good.
Additionally, I'm using Power Toggles to off the screen, minimize power button usage. Hope it helps.

Strange , Auto Screen On does not work for me.
But Gravity Screen worked.

s2w and dt2w is usually controlled by kernel. just install custom kernels like ElementalX can liao.

Just to check, wanted to try but didn't have time to read and find out.
How's battery life with a custom kernel? And future OTA updates affected? Cos waiting for the new camera update, hopefully it comes soon.
Thanks for the advice.

i don't think you can update ota with custom kernel, the update will fail or even just with custom recovery (unless you just use fast boot), TWRP shld have a feature to act as stock recovery but some versions of are broken, not sure which.

I like the smart radio on cataclysm, and the ability to change the fast toggle and lock screen shortcuts

psx can add lock screen on nav bar...
fast toggle i don't really use that much so not a big problem for me.
let's see if I can get better SOT than Franco

If you are not into hardcore day to day flashing custom ROM..avoid flashing custom recovery..kepp trouble free

With the introduction of 4.3 with multiple users and up. It has given many problem on OTA update with custom recovery. The OTA script is very fussy on any changes made to system files and change of permission right

My suggestion is not to permanently flash custom recovery. Instead do this, keep original recovery. Every time you want to update OTA...still run the Custom Recovery program like CWM ,just conduct one time flash...reboot to recovery and use the custom Recovery to do the OTA update. after OTA installation complete. do one more time of SuperSU update to keep root.

When prompted to permanently install custom recovery..Choose NO..

Above approach always serve me well. On my nexus 7, I am clicking too fast to accept permanent custom recovery..Nightmare starts to come on every OTA which I have to execute many manual Linux commands (some may not know how to do it) in order to allow OTA to get through.

I flash recovery using

fastboot flash recovery twrp-file-name.img

Does it mean my recovery is permanently flashed with custom recovery? Any re-course for me if I like to have OTA updates?

So which one should I use? Odex or Deodexed. I googled what is odex/deodexed but catch no ball...:s22:

Odex.

I am using cargo_only_Batt___without_Batt_Icon_odex_N5.zip with stock rom and Franco kernel.

I find that when I use auto screen on, the screen is always being turn on when I took out the phone from my jeans pocket. Wondering if the screen is in all the time when in pocket. :s22:

I switched on the double tap to wake, so doesn't auto on so easily.
Shouldn't be on in the pocket as long as the Prix sensor is covered.
