Hi i'm considering the following rig:

AMD X2 4800+
MSI K9A2CF
2*1GB Crucial DDR2-800
250GB HD Seagate
20X LG SATA DVD-RW
PowerColor 3870 512MB GDDR3

is the Corsair HX520W enough for mild OC + future 3870 crossfire? also, if i change to phenom in future (plus mild OC), will the HX520 supply enough juice? sorry for my noobness, i'm noob when it comes to PSU

Lol, due to the offer by corsair, you can try.......

Single : HX 520W
Dual : HX 620W
Triple : HX 1000W (if you can find this let us know .. heh ..

but IMO no point doing a triple sli. doesnt warrant the improved performance and increased heat..

If you must, Thermaltake corsairs and enermax i feel are very good power supplies to look for. Esp the enermax. the corsairs aer a bit cheaper for now only la thanks to the promo. Oh and actually the Aerocool 1000W could be another option i guess but i dont know about pricewise where it stands, but it shiould be pretty low for a 1000W psu .. aerocool horsepower series in SG are pretty affordable..

Is it Normal for a power supply casing to be warm? Just got myself a Corsair 620W PS, i noticed that after i switched on my PC, I felt that the Power supply casing is warm or can say slightly hot. Is it normal?

erm.. u should feel hot.. but not realli hot.. if u feel warm it's okay..
but if u feel hot.. it means us psu might be overloaded.. becareful..
but 620W should be fine.. unless u having sli configuration..

Hello, nope I only have a 8800GT runnng. Below my specs

Auzen Explosion 7.1 soundcard

I noticed that my cooler master centurion 5 top back abit warm, but i only on less than 10 min.

it's normal... i also feel heat blazing out from my rig.. (when gaming.. like feverish temperature)
because of our graphic card..
the temperature for your grafic card is around 50 to 70 degree..
it's normal... maybe ur psu fan is facing the wall... if it has ample space for the exhauxt "gas" air.. u shouldn't feel much heat.. actuallynot warm i should say... especially when u are not gaming.. u should not feel any heat.. i would say.. maybe very very very slight warmness... that shouldn't be the heat u should experience when doing nth
ermmm... if u shouldn't feel the heat.. bring the PSU for exchange ..tell them it's faulty..
demand for an exchange.. dun care them... u paid for ur good.. u got right to change within 7 days.. i guess?

You changed your power supply from HEC 580W Ace power to Corsair HX620W? I also contemplate doing so for one of my rig.

hi, got a question.. I gona change my rig soon.. N i 1 2 use back my old PSU Antec 550W. The PSU is enough for my new rig as i dun sli it. it will enough. But, new mobo come wif 8pins plug, my only 4pins. Can i just plug in 4 pins instead of 8pins w/o buying new psu.

Q9450 + Asus Maximus Formula SE

Ya, i gave my HEC Ps to my bro, so i got the Corsair H620W. So far the only complain is the heat problem

I believe you face this heat problem because of:
1. CPU HS fan is not blowing in the direction of the exhaust fan at the rear
2. power supply located at the top of CPU area

The PC component tends to heat up more if hot air is not pushed out if the shorter route, such as having the CPU fan blowing down on the CPU, blowing up toward the power supply fan intake or blowing to toward the graphics card.

The best blowing direction is shown in the picture below:

i have a question. let say my system only need around 500W, but i use a 800W psu, will there be any negative effects? ie. less efficiency? more expensive electric bill? etc.?

Your system will continue to use only 500W irrespective of higher rating of your power supply provided it is greater than 500W. Get an 80Plus certified power supply to improve efficiency and lower power consumption.
However, higher wattage power supply costs more, so get one according to your need.

cool. thanks. im aiming Acbel M8 Power 670W or 750W, $199 and $219 respectively.
FSP Everest 800W at $219 seems like a good buy too.
