If you reset and don't install anything or just the basic few apps and test and still draining fast then time to change. Either that or go airplane mode, see if also discharge fast.

Oh no..... my screen is not responding to my fingers but responds to S Pen....

Reboot into Safe Mode and same thing happen.... finger no response but S Pen has response

Wiped cache partition and same thing persist... finger no response but S Pen has response

Same issue as this user in the video


Argh...... can only use S Pen to touch the screen

Remove from your case and see if it helps? Maybe it's a sign

I'm using the Rhinoshield bumper only, no screen protector or what-so-ever.

Already tried removing the bumper yesterday but still no finger detection on the screen but S Pen can work on the screen.

I have not factory reset the phone yet.... maybe do it when i have the time to backup the phone and spend time re-configuring everything on the weekends.

I doubt it is software issue.
Suspect could be the digitizer went kaput.....

Google the issue and it seems this is a common problem....

Only 2 months to Note8......why spoil at this moment???

hmm, maybe your finger spoilt?? :D

haha jokes aside, the digitiser might be faulty whereas the s-pen operates on the wacom technology which is separate from the digitiser.. so yeah, now u know why it doesn't work.

alternatively, you can try a reset but i doubt it will work..

One last resort, use someone else's finger. Right now only 2 months left, anything stupid also must try :s22: So funny that it suddenly stop working just like that.

Actually only 2 months or 1.5 months, not very long unless you game on it. Eh oh yeah, do you have those fat tip stylus, try see those can work or not, if can ah, maybe can go buy those gloves or same **** for 2 fingers then can tahan for a while. Idea right?

I factory reset the phone..........and the problem presists........

Looks like is really digitizer hardware failure........

sigh...... have to use S Pen for everything........

Note8, please come quickly.........so i can change the Note 5 into Note8........

mai note 5 suddenly died, tried to power on: no response.
tried to recharge: no response and no charging light indicated.
i tried pressing here and there still no response.
i remembered the phone still got 60% of battery life and it died and cannot be powered up!!!

HELP ME!!!!


edit: found online troubleshooting guide to force reboot.
PHEW!!! it worked!!!

well...at least your issue is resolved with a force reboot......... unlike mine, which is likely a hardware failure......

any idea what caused the crash?
the last thing i did before waking the phone up was dropping it slightly on a table....

sorry to hear about your phone though.
at the very least (touch wood) its not completely dead...:crazy::crazy::crazy:

Hi everyone,

I understand that there's backup software for rooted phones. How about for unrooted ones? Any backup software to recommend to backup to Pc?

Very little, most of them will need a PC at least. Reason being Android devices do not let users access data in the data partition where app data is installed and written to. Then there are application who stores data else where rather than the standard directory but accessible to the user vie file managers.

You can try Samsung's smart switch to backup into an external SD card.
IT will not save your app data but only keep the apk stored in a backup so when you restore it can help you reinstall the application. That way you do not need a PC and can just use the external SD card.

Otherwise, Helium is the best option I heard so far... But there are some catch.
