Is there a general range of pricing for Zeiss/Hoya lens? Or do I have to go to individual shops to check their pricing? Single vision 300 degrees
For your degree. From $150 onwards. Can be even higher for more premium type of single vision lenses

I currently use a premium progressive lens (Zeiss Progressive SmartLife Pro Superb 1.67), for which I previously paid around S$1,700 per unit (S$3,400 for a pair). I got the frame and lenses at an upscale optical shop. This high cost is beyond my comfort level as I am thinking of making a few more pairs of glasses to use interchangeably with my current pair.
What is considered a reasonable price range for a quality progressive lens? I don't need the most high-end, branded, or highly customized lenses. Just something functional. Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Wow!! S$3,400 per pair for lenses only, without frame for Zeiss Progressive lenses.

That's why it's advisable to choose cheaper band of lenses if your degree is expected to change within 2years

For the price, I would only be willing to pay this amount if it can last me at least 6 years.

i just made 1.74 index glasses but the thickness is the same as my 1.67 index glasses. Am I being duped?
An optician once told me that the difference in thickness across different index can be insignificant.

It may just be a marketing ploy to get customers with lower self esteem to opt for costlier band to compensate their need to feel better.

Hi,

Anyone knows where I can get Masunaga Misago frames that aren’t crazily marked up? Local dealer offered $1580 just for the frames, which is more than twice what the RRP is in Japan at 88,000 yen. I tried using a forwarding service but Masunaga’s online store cancelled my order saying it goes against their company policy… so you can buy if you’re travelling there as a tourist but no you can’t use forwarding services cos it affects their “brand value” and makes it difficult for them to service warranty claims…?

Sry, have been a caveman about lens for quite a few years.

So how do they get your vision data for the bespoke zeiss lens? Do they run multiple tests on ur eyes?
Manually by the optometrist, and using some Zeiss machine. Check with your optometrist.

Did a few frames at Jamco before. Nice shop.

Mind sharing the cost of your lens?
I couldn't remember the exact price. I think around 2K (i could be wrong) for the Smartlife Pro Individual 3 Progressive, with BlueGuard and Duravision Platinum.
But they have the Duravision Gold now, which costs more. Just call or text them to ask.

Essilor Varilux and Zeiss progressive lenses, which one is better? Zeiss is more expensive than Essilor?

Hi! Yours is considered higher end of lenses.
There are definitely lower cost options - thing is it might not perform as well as the current Zeiss lens you are using. There are many brands offering multi pair discounts! Can check them out! Enquire with the shops and go with whoever makes you feel comfortable 😊

This is a blanket statement! Eg if you prescription is about -1.00 , offering a high index lens is of course not ethical , unless the consumer requests for it. If we are talking about -4.00 degrees and above, try not using high index lenses and see if it makes a difference or not
