Hi fellows, think I may be starting to get presbyopia (老花), i.e. start to need to take off specs to read phone screens/hold phone further to see it more clearly.

is there a stabilisation period for presbyopia? Cos I read the better lenses are like close to $2K? So will be quite heart pain if I rush to make a pair of progressive now & it is incompatible after a year or so?
On the other hand, will it harm my eyes if I delay getting progressive lens, i.e. maybe drag 1-2 years after I start experiencing signs of presbyopia & “tough it out”?

other than getting a single pair of progressive, is the alternative getting a pair of reading glasses/the so-called “office lens” to do those arms-length reading work, plus a pair of long-sighted glasses for walking around/crossing road?

Hi, presbyopia will get worse with age. Better lenses defintiely cost more. $2k would be the very high end tier. Usually not needed unless you have high visual requirement. Usually a progressive pair done well should last you minimally 2 years. Unless you have different reading habits. The earlier you start, the more relief your eye will feel.

Your option is viable if you don't mind constantly switching glasses. I suggest you head to your usual optometrist to have it checked out. A detailed history checking and sight assessment would be needed to then explain and better cater to your needs.

You forget to mention washing your spec cloth at least once a week with soap and not to ever use your clothing to wipe your lenses.

never mention = cannot do, this is called implicit deny.
if like this also dun know how to follow, it is a prob with IQ level.

the frequency of washing depends on individual. specs can get fingerprint/dust/dirt day to day.
for me, i even wash my spec at least once a day. it is not a fixed schedule but just simply becos it is needed to do so becos it has all the things i mentioned above.

Hi all seeking for some opinion here,I have made a spectacle in Malaysia with essilor blue light lens however I had to return to the store couple of times as my eyes couldn't adapt and was feeling giddy despite the store offering suggestions from first choosing a frame without nose bridge to a transparent frame(per optician they mentioned light will reflect though) and finally I decided to ask for a refund.
I decided to try again at a different store and made 2 pairs due to the promotion they are having,same issues this time but it is local lens and they decided to change to a Taiwan lens for me to try citing that different lens have different base curve and I'm sensitive to this lenses. Have anyone experience the same and can any experts offer your opinion on this? I thought of asking for a refund and getting back to just buying form zoff/owndays which I have no issue to adapt. The prescription for all the spectacles are the same btw.

Same with me. Started about a few months ago. May I know how old you are just for comparison? I am 42 this year.

May I know roughly how much to spend on progressive lenses? Normally my lenses are around 100. RI = 1.67, -5, with some astigmatism.

I think I don't need progressive lenses yet, as I can still read my phone, laptop with no problem. So probably go for regular lenses for now, and delay progressive until later.

I recently had an eye exam, and my results show:
Unaided VA OD: 0.6 (+2)
Unaided VA OS: 1.0 (-2)
Astigmatism in both eyes (prescription for RE: -0.25/-0.25x55, LE: +0.50/-0.75x150, both with +0.75 add as suggested). I also get headaches and eye strain, especially when using digital screens, and I’ve done LASIK before.
I was offered Zeiss SmartLife Digital Pro lenses, with the suggestion that these would help therapeutically reduce my eye strain and fatigue.

How effective are these lenses for reducing eye strain and headaches, particularly for someone with my prescription, astigmatism, and post-LASIK status?
Are they actually different from standard lenses for digital device use?

Yesterday I collected my first progressive spectacles from Owndays. The lens is the Prestige Progressive. With the memory metal frame total cost is 298.

There is some distortion when I move my eyes from side to center. I guess I need to get used to it.

I want to do a second pair as a spare, and was looking at foptics as the prices are similar. Anyone try the progressive lenses here?

Sorry, the 1.7k RM is inclusive of the frame?

Started having Presby a few yrs back (cant see near, need to take off specs to read labels LOL). But currently still in "denial" mode hahaha. Was considering getting the Ownsday Prestige (+200) to try but then, counting in the cost of the frame, probably not far off from the price you paid (if inclusive of frame). ALSO... i dun usually take good care of my glasses - drop, wipe with clothes, etc etc so dun wan to spend like 1-2k sgd on a progressive haha

is there glasses with Monofocal (one side far one side near) like contact lens for presby (basically 2 diff power normal contact lens)?
