I think space is the main issue, to have the amount of Colours firstly=amount of pots, some might want gradual tinting and all. Not worth the effort for a shop in Sg... you see most spec shop the sizes, rooms are used either to put stocks in or machines.. hard.. labs in Singapore however have specific rooms for tinting so I guessing it's better? For US I have not been there so I won't know how it works at their end..

Actually tinting is just using a hot pot of water and dye essentially, how come spectacle shops here unlike those in US, where if they have edging machine, most likely they have tint tanks as well

Forgot to add on, some Colours if cx wants to follow the sample tinting is even worst!!! Haha if they come out with their own sunglasses lens.. Colours even from labs also won't exactly match the given Colour sadly..

Generally helps to reduce glare from screens e.g mobile devices, pc, screens. Colour difference yes. It be warmer/yellowish through the pc lens as compared to clear lenses. If your job requires you to have detailed Colour differentiation skills then perhaps it Might not be the choice for you.

I agree with the warm/yellow. Wearing a pair of glasses with BC, and while you won't notice it after wearing your glasses for a while, the moment you take your glasses off you'll notice that the white walls are well, white. Heh. If you need to do loads of PS work, or photography etc don't use it, else it's little difference for me day to day.

I'm the guy who spends like 8h on my comp when I can... Definitely less eye strain when I used blue control lens but not sure if it's just a placebo

Is it very hard to adapt to progressive lenses... Ie need to look through top and bottom part depending on distance?

Hi All,

Does anyone knows about a spectacles shop in Bedok by the name of Newman Optics? My friend just intro this shop to me as I have the intention of changing a new spectacles but not sure whether i am starting to have Presbyopia problem.

Called up the shop to check whether i can do an eye examination without making a spectacles there. They quoted me $60.

Any suggestion from fellow forum mates?

Won't be asking your age here haha buttttt.. how it usually works is that when...age wise
30-40 around 50-75 reading add
40-50 around 1-1.75 reading add
50-60 usually 2-2.75 reading add
This is the usual case from my experience. (Your required reading/working distance might affect the amount of reading power)e.g. Even if your normal reading power is +2.00 but you prioritise more intermediate work(monitors that are further from normal desktop distance) then your reading power will be lessened maybe to about +1.50(varies). Testing of these required power will be done at the testing room itself. Very subjective. There might be some points I missed out for now.. but hope this gives you a slightly better idea.

Since its from your Friend recommendation then probably should be good to be even recommended.

Can give them a try! should be comprehensive enough to get your eye checked, intra ocular pressure and importantly get your fundus check for now for any age related condition.

I can only give you a very vague answer(sorry!!), well it's very subjective as adaptation is also depending on how expectations is being managed to you... hmm,
In the testing room and outside the room, how your viewing and reading will be should roughly be made known to you by then..(managing expectation).. your lens design recommended also plays an important part.. I think previous post I mentioned if you choose a better(trueform) design lens, reading area will be wider, lesser distortion at the peripheral and of course clearer and sharper distance viewing... hope this helps for now.. will try to answer! Guess i do have to check my fund as my friend whom made the progress lens and frame from the shop cost about $900 which he doesn't have myopia or astigmatism. while i have around 600+ for myopia (left and right) and 200+ for astigmatism (left and right) . Also most of the time i am on my PC for more than 10hrs per day due to my work.

If you find blue control lens too expensive, ask for your lens (office lens) to be tinted a slight shade of amber, it's the same

Tints can also be removed if you dont like it

Imho from what I come across, the most scratch resistant lens would be zeiss..rmb *no scratch proof lenses in the world* even glass lens also can get scratched!!

Just checked with my friend on his recommended shop. Apparently the eye test is the same 2 steps test as normal shop (using the automated machine and then manual eye reading test with lens).

He told me his cost for the frame and lens is $900. (Essilor with Crizal coating progressive lens, 0 deg for myopia).

With that Budget you can get decent frame with your blue light protection glasses at many places already! But More popular brands e.g Oli ppl maybe abit stretched haha.
