Good morning,

With 400-500, you should be able to get a decent pair of frame and lens.

Edit: what’s your current prescription?

Planning to get my specs at jamco optical, anyone got recommendations for 400-500 budget there, is the price for frame and lens decent?

I didn't really care about the brand when making my last pair of spec, was using Rayban previously cause its considered cheap for me and was only using it when working in saf cause they only allow black colour frame. Wanted to get another pair now for other usage

Good afternoon!

I would recommend zeiss office lens or Hoya work style lenses. I am leaning towards Hoya one though haha.

Both gives good intermediate and reading zone coverage.

Hoya would cost 500 rrp (choose room design)
Zeiss would cost 350 rrp. They have a better version which cost 450.

All of them comes with blue light filter.

Ok this power requires a 1.6 or 1.67 lens. A basic lens would cost about 130 for 1.60 index lens. 1.67 about 170-180.(local made lenses)

Meaning 320 for frames, if your face is not too broad, you can look at acoustic line, ironic iconic and many more over there. Their range of glasses is very wide.

Both side abt - 5.25 each if I rmb correctly

Generally aviators are quite curved so I have to advise you to look at the sports based lens to cater to the lens curvature.
1.67 cost 650. Lenses will still be thick though..

If it’s mirror, 798 for 1.67 and e mirror +100 more which will be 898. If it’s mirror, the lenses are polarised too, thus the increased price.

Edit:all rrp, but quite chor hahah..

Hi Gangsterkia,

Toying this idea, if I have a pair of Ray-ban Aviator 3026 series, I would like to convert it to a shade with a power of 500+ for both eyes; using Essicolor and 1.67 lenses, what would be the estimate cost? Thanks.

In fact, I am enquiring on behalf. I do share the same sentiment as you and I said with that amount and top up some, commission another pair of new Lindberg with transition? Haa

PS: BTW, if convenient, can you PM me the price after discount? Thanks.

I am not sure if the polytechnics optical centres are open at this period. You can call Ngee Ann optometry Center or Singapore poly optometry Center. Cost 5-15 dollars if I not wrong for a full eye check including posterior and anterior eye check which cost at least 100-200 outside.

Edit:posterior=back of The Eye e.g. retina
Anterior=front of The Eye e.g. cornea, lens

Downside is checking time is longer e.g. 1-2Hrs as usually the lecturers will double check. But it is a small price to pay for such an extensive eye check.

Really have no idea.. misplaced my record and was years back. Where can I get a cheap eye check to get the prescription?

Tokai 1.76

Hi, does anyone know more on Tokai 1.76 for very high prescription (-11)?
Looking at Tokai website there is 1.76 AS, 1.76 Bi-AS and 1.76 CVF. If i understand correctly the BI-AS and CVF are supposed to give the thinnest.

Anyone able to advise on:
- Which provide the thinnest or produce the least diagonal prism effect?
- What is the key difference between 1.76 Bi-AS and 1.76 CVF?
- Recommendation on good place to buy from?
- Typical costs?

I'm also looking to get some small round frames and see if they can be reglazed with Tokai.

Thanks for any help.
